Named after the sixteenth century Bridge of Sighs in Venice, the Bridge of Sighs in Cambridge England over the River Cam. In Venice, the Bridge of Sighs was the last view that persons convicted during the Inquisition saw before they were forced into underground tombs. Lord Byron of England named the bridge the Bridge of Sighs in the 19th century. In Cambridge, the bridge led to classrooms where students take tests.
