First, we will start with the children's viewpoint on this subject. After asking many of the kids in my school questions about videogames, I have come to some conclusions. First, alot of kids play videogames because they are "bored", and have nothing better to do. Perhaps they seek refuge from idleness in videogames? Also, many responses I got to the question of "why do you play videogames" were, because of the action. The children were attracted to the fantasy scenarios that some videogames have to offer, things that could never be done in real life. Lastly, I was told by some children that they play just to relax, and unwind, after a long day. So some children are just fed up with working after school, and need to relax, and videogames are a great way to do so according to them. Now, that we see the children's side, lets move on to the adults.
Ah, the adults. Some have totally opposite views of the children. I asked many of my friends parents about this subject, and here are some of the answer I got: "My child's grades are not as high as they should be, he could be using that time to study." Apparently, this child has let videogames precede academics, and it is showing in school. Another response I got was, "He's becoming anti-social, all he/she does is play those thins now, it's like hes forgot about his friends." In this case, the parent in worried because his/her child has gotten so absorbed in videogames, that he has forgotten about his friends. One last response I got was, "I just thing videogames are a downright waste of time, my child could be outside getting fresh air instead!" This parent just plain doesn't like videogames, and think that time should be spent doing more productive things.
Now, my article is about to come to an end. I hope that it helped you out in understanding what the vast majority of kids/parents opinions on videogames are. Now you can have an intelligent discussion about it with your friends/co-workers!
