Video Game Hall of Fame: Best Game Ever Made

A list of the top ten best video games ever made and why they were chosen.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

This is the number one game of all time and will remain so for a while because of excellence in many factors. It is literally frozen in time as the absolute best videogame of all time. The game world's ever-changing environment looks like a fairy tale come to life. Towering castles, amazing waterfalls, and magical forests are a feast for the eyes and ears. Rivers flow, rain falls, the sun and moon rise and set. The game still is brilliant and fresh to play after a decade and never grows old. When new Legend of Zelda games come, they are all linked to this amazing game. Nintendo Power said "The Ocarina of Time has stood the test of time", and it has.

Chrono Trigger

Many people objected the concept of this being the second best game ever, but the votes agreed! It is without a doubt a Square RPG, but it is no Final Fantasy. It's happier in theme and less frustrating in execution. With an excellent storyline and fun gameplay, this game ranks in the top ten.

Soulcalibur

This game is without a doubt one of the most fun and exciting games out there. With amazing graphics for its time and hours of fun multiplayer, Soulcalibur ranks number three! This is one of the greatest fighting games of all time, and it has some of the most memorable characters. And to top it all off, the graphics had been reworked from the arcade version. Before playing the latest Soulcalibur games, why not try the original.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

This was the highest of the 2D Zelda era, and it was later followed by one of the industry's greatest games, Ocarina of Time. To many, the greatest Zelda of all-time, Link to the Past, remains one of my favorite games, building upon my favorite series. The game includes an incredible storyline and combines good gameplay with a lot of puzzle solving. Like its future games, Link to the Past ranks number four!

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Snake Eater provides good quality gaming fun and realistic gameplay to create the fifth best game of all time! Many argue that it is better than its prequel and they are probably right. Even though the graphics and camera view wasn't the best, the other elements (story) added up for it.

Super Metroid

This game stepped up the level and standards of 2D gaming when first released. With excellent gameplay, good soundtracks, and many different colors this game ranks number six! It is never too late to play it so you should definitely download it (Wii) if you do not already have it for the SNES. Also one of the first games to contain a legit corner map.

GoldenEye 007

Golden Eye had decent graphics for N64, but the story and gameplay made it the seventh best game ever!  Great memories of multiplayer fun makes this a must for me where the addition of being able to play favorable James Bond characters, along with its soundtrack, make it even more enjoyable. Before playing the new not-so-good 007 games, why not trying the classic that started it all.

Metal Gear Solid

This game did not have great graphics for a PlayStation game and neither is the gameplay, but the storyline makes everything fun, enticing, and suspenseful making this game the eigth best game! Though it probably will be hard to find now days.

Resident Evil 4

Probably one of my personal favorite games, Resident Evil 4 was replicated for many systems (GameCube, PS2, Wii) and is still available for sale. With frighting scenes and excellent gameplay this game kept me at the edge of my seat. All survival horror games will from here on out be graded and put in front of this game to compare every aspect of its dream-come-true gaming accomplishments.

Shenmue II

Shenmue II is a game that few have heard of, but is very popular in China and Japan. I didn't think it was a very good game but did combine graphics and a decent storyline to make the tenth best game ever!
