10) Age of Conan

Age of Conan is a new game, and thus it haven't yet come to high on the MMORPG list. Age of Conan has very high system requierments and therefore this game is not for everybody. Age of Conan (abbrevated AoC) may end up being the biggest MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) since Wow. With a game play averagely simular to WoW AoC has newer and more evolved technology ensuring its place in the top ten list years to come.
9) Diablo 2

Diablo 2 may look old compared to the newer versions this game still lives on at battle.net. The game is a RPG style third-person game where you must defeat creatures like skeletons and demons. It is a fun experience and also comes with a single-player mode (non-online).
8) Neverwinter Nights

NWN is a game simular with nice looking graphics but with the feature to also create your own modules, or levels with all possible player-made features. It features a lot of different modules so that the game will fit for any type of player.
7) StarCraft

StartCraft is a realtime strategi game devoloped by Blizzard, same devoloper as Diablo 2. The multiplayer action is very popular. It is going through battle.net where you can also chat and play. In South Corea there is a lot of pro leagues and turnaments. There is even TV-channel only showing StarCraft all day.
6) Second Life

SL is a virtual 3D game where you create a character and do thing simular to many MMORPG. The thing that differs this game from many others is that you can create new virtual instances by yourself. The games economics is connected to real life, where you can trade real money for the games currency and the other way. This has made people rich by playing this game. A hack however, involving Quicktime (may have been fixed) allowed a player to steal Linden Dollar (the games currency). Quicktime renders video objects created by the player.
5) RuneScape

RuneScape is a medival game created by Jagex ltd. It is basically like wow but with the limited graphics. I am myself a RuneScape player and find it enjoyable. It is either free, or cheap to become member. As of July 1 2008 a new graphical update was released, dramatically enchanting the graphics to the max. Added shadows and move fluent movements (however, still as a beta update, only accessable by members).
4) Team Fortress 2

Shooting game with cartoonish and weird characters with free online play made by Valve, same creators as Counter-Strike. Can be accessed via Steam.
3) Guild Wars

Guild Wars is a big MMORPG made to differs from other games. Not as big as wow but still big. There is also no need for subscribing montly. You choose between races and fight others. Basic stuff.
2) Counter Strike: Source

As a former CS player i can say that this game is fun to play. It is based on Counter-Strike, which is based on Half-Life. These are shooting games created by Valve. What differs CS:S from others is the more devoloped graphics and technology. The only downside is the support from Steam, but it is still there.
1) World of Warcraft

Who could have guessed that the number one MMORPG games was, and still is WoW? All the interneters out there have surely heard of WoW. A huge game developed by Blizzard. You are a character of your choice. There is a whole lot of races to choose from, like humans, dwarfes etc. On top of it, they are first divided into either god (Alliance) or evil (Horde), then into races (humans, elves etc), then into another set of abilities of your choice, like warrior, priest etc. WoW has over ten million active player and steady raising, but the costs are pretty big.
