The Top 10 Selling Video Game Franchises

Since the beginning of the video games era, some games have gone further than the ordinary and left their fingertip in history. These games were revolutionary and are part of the general culture of many parts of the world.The following shows the best selling game franchises in the history.

Who hasn't kill a Sim, or caught a Pidgey? Who doesn't know the music from Super Mario Bros or Tetris?

The lists counts games from NES to Nintendo Wii, from GameBoy to GameBoy Advance. Apart from that all the family of Playstation and Xbox consoles are counted along with the always popular PC games.

Mario Bros

285 millions units sold

It's not strange that Mario Bros saga is the most successful in the history. After all, the creation of Shigeru Miyamoto hadn't stop appearing in best selling games since its very first appearance in Donkey Kong (back in 1981) with the name of Jumperman.

Mario has appeared in more than 200 video games, from NES to the recent Nintendo Wii, Mario has been part of a smash hit game.

Pokemon

155 millions units sold

Pokemon is a huge franchise owned by Nintendo and created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995. Apart from video games, Pokemon have been merchandised into television series, movies, trading cards, books, toys and other media.

Final Fantasy

88 millions units sold

This RPG games is the largest video game franchise after The Legend of Zelda and Super Marios Bros series. It was created in 1987 and up to now there are 12 titles, with the 13th in way, along with many spin off titles.

Madden NFL

76 millions units sold

The most representative title for America's most popular sport can only result in enormous amount of sales. The game created by EA Sports is an always popular game to play and sales show it clearly.

The Sims

74 millions units sold

The Sims was a revolutionary game since its release, no game before allowed you to create a person and control it as this game did. It is obvious that the guys at EA did well, after all, who hasn't had a Sim?

Grand Theft Auto

70 millions units sold

Imagine an action, adventure and sometimes driving game series. Add to that the fact you are a criminal. The result is this awesome game.

Donkey Kong

54 millions units sold

Another great character by master Miyamoto. In the begining Mario was a character in the Donkey Kong series, but as we know later he separated and had a more successful career, but that doesn't takes out credit to Donkey Kong, one of the games to whom Nintendo owes its leadership in video games during 80s and 90s.

Sonic has been a classic since its very first appearance in the 16 bit console. As well as many famous franchises it had been part of a television series and even comic books.
