In this article we will talk about 3-5-2 formation. Stength and weakness of this formation will be examined. Base on our examination, we can decide the best defending and attacking psitions to minimize the disadvantages and maximize our advantages.
In this article, i will use some terminologies that already explained in previous article entitled "Stone Wall"(http://www.quazen.com/Games/Computer-Games/Stone-Wall.48).
Strength Vs weakness
Before we start talk about strength and weakness of 3-5-2 formation, an overview of this formation will be showed below.

Strength:
3-5-2 formation sacrifice some of your defensive capability in order to maximize attack. " Offense is the best defence" became the main philosophy of this formation. 3-5-2 is almost the strongest formation in midfield battle. Midfield area is very important to build an offensive movement and counter attack. Midfield area is also important to prevent enemy counter attack, and if you use pressing style (closing all over).
Weakness:
3-5-2 formation is very vunerable in defence especially when the enemy launch a counter attack.Because you have lack of defender, they must be kept in your red area(see stone wall).Both of your DM also may not move too far from your yellow area(see stone wall).

3-5-2 formation has many disadvantage in defense. When the enemy attack your player will concentrate mostly in your yellow area. That is why you should try to maximize efforts of your RM/LM and DM. In above defending position you use both of your DM as ANC. Your RM and LM should take position as RWB and LWB. To ensure you have a solid defense, you also need many investment for a good GK.
You will have 3-4 players in your yellow area. So you will not get any problem when the enemy get death ball opportunity. Using above defending position you will be able to launch counter attack very quickly.
Your AM is responsible to supply the ball to both of your ST. Assign your fastest ST in front of other ST.

3-5-2 formation has very good attacking capabilities. Using above attacking position you AM will act as a Central Forward. Both of your DM are responsible to supply the ball to your AM and both of your ST. They also responsible to wait rebound ball and act as second attackers. At leats you will have 5 men in enemy red area including your LM and RM.
To avoid fast counter attack, place your left and right CD straight in line behind your LM and RM. Not need to be worry with the enemy at the center of the field because both of your DM and your central CD will be enough to take care of them.
Base on my experience standart 3-5-2 formation is very good against standart 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1, 4-3-1-2 and 4-1-2-2-1 formation. This formation is also good againts 4-2-2 formation, but you will get many goal because 4-4-2 formation has very good defensive capability .
