My Thoughts on TNA's Upcoming Video Game

TNA is going to be making its debut in the video game world.

As some of you may be aware another wrestling game will be coming out in the fall of 2008. It isn't a WWE game but a TNA wrestling game. For those who are not aware, TNA has been in existence since 2002 and now is on Prime Time Thursday Nights from 9 to 11 PM on Spike TV. They have some of the top wrestlers in the company like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe as the homegrown talent as you would think. You have other names like Kurt Angle, Petey Williams, Abyss, and a lot more.

My take is that it was bound to happen sooner or later and could prove to be a great gain for TNA and get closer to getting some recognition. Though I do question the lack of advertising but once it gets closer to the release, I can imagine advertising will pick up and it should. The key is going to be the marketing and how this is going to stand out differently than the Smackdown vs. Raw games or even the predecessor series, the WWF Smackdown games. It is a multi console game going to be on the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and the Nintendo Wii. Obviously the Wii graphic wise isn't going to compare because for Nintendo it's about game play but that's another story.

This company is going to have to pull out all stops to get as much publicity as possible. You could have the greatest game in the world but if it's not well-known or even given any form of advertising then how in the world can you expect to buy it so easily? This is very critical and actually something that the company has to seriously address and then apply that to their own show. The versions for the game are only going to be different probably due to one factor: the system's capabilities. What you see is some will have online and some won't due to limitations of the hardware.

In interviews it was said that AJ Styles and Samoa Joe were playing a role in its development as they are big gamers and probably the biggest ones on the roster itself. It was said that both wanted to make it better than the Smackdown vs. Raw games that you see out on the market today. Whether or not it is just that is another story.

I did reference that in a piece about TNA itself as a wrestling company and talked about it but times have changed with the product and the direction in a slight degree. For information regarding TNA the company, you would need to look directly at this address.

I don't know if the game is going to be good but I might give it a look at. It's going to have some of the signature matches known with TNA like Ultimate X, King of the Mountain, Full Metal Mayhem, and others to go along with it. This could be very critical because if it's successful, you can bet TNA will want to have another wrestling game made for them. If it fails, it might be the only time. I hope it is successful because then it could then open up the wrestling world in the video game world dominated right now by the WWE.
