Madden NFL Football has become one of the best all time selling video games. It has been released every year for more than a decade, and on more than 10 different consoles. It is the accepted football game for all one on one settlements. There are some basic Madden rules you should follow.
- Quarterback scrambling is not allowed unless it is the actual play you chose. Michael Vick is no exception; anybody can get a first down having him as their QB as his passing is over rated.
- It is acceptable to use hot routes, and up to two audibles per play. Anymore is unacceptable. You cannot complain about two as it is simply strategy based on your defense.
- If you're losing in a franchise mode game you are not allowed to turn the game off or simply not save. The only case in which it is acceptable is if you running back or quarter back is injured in the game for a length of more than three weeks.
- No backing out of games after they start unless both parties agree to quitting, and in that case the winner is the party who did not suggest quitting. A madden gamer would find a way to finish it.
- The skunk rule must be agreed on by both parties before the game. The score at which the game is called is either twenty-one or twenty-eight at the end of the third quarter.
- You are not allowed to bleed the clock. Bleeding the clock is taking more than twelve seconds to pick a play, and waiting more than twelve seconds to snap it once you're at the line. Running the ball is fine, but taking extra time off the clock to watch your guys on the line is not acceptable.
- You cannot kick the punt out of bounds simply to avoid having to tackle their punt returner.
- The hurry up offense can be run as many times in a row as the offense would like. You should be able to stop a play after it's been run at you numerous times straight.
- You can blitz all you want, if you don't like it change your offense to something quicker.
- There is no kneeling in any online games, or games against your friends. The only time it is appropriate would be when playing on all-madden, up by seven or less, and in the playoffs of a season. A quarter can be done in eight plays if you kneel, the play clock time doesn't take into consideration the shortened halves.
- All games are to be played on All-Madden; the computers are just as good as the human controlled person.
- In the case of playing older versions of madden, you cannot use the madden cards.
- When playing somebody not as good as you pick a bad team or a team with a quarterback that cannot scramble around in the pocket.
- If you're shutout late in the game you cannot kick a field goal to avoid the shut out.
- Throwing deep to a receiver is allowed throughout the entire game. It is not manly to keep throwing it all game, but it's their fault if it keeps working.
- Proper time to look over stats must be granted after a game.
- Rematches must be granted on request as soon as possible. Only exception is if somebody is playing the winner, then you have to wait. An exception to that is if you lost by less than three.
- There is no quitting if your star player gets injured when playing somebody. Deal with it; you can play without one player.
- After a long run it is allowable to stop on the one yard line and wait to get knocked in, to run along the end zone line, or if you're truly a man, run a circle around your opponent.
- Before a game begins you cannot take more than five minutes to reset your depth chart. Anybody who knows what they are doing does not need more than this amount of time to set their depth chart.
