It is in no way afflicted with Sonic Team or SEGA. SRB2 started out as a 2D platform game made by Sonikku. This was the original sonic robo blast which included badly drawn sprites and an amazing story. Shortly after the release of SRB (Sonic Robo Blast) Sonic Team Jr. was formed who created SRB2 up to its current form.
SRB2 is currently at version 1.09.4a after 10 years of programming and is nearing the final release of 1.1. SRB2 1.1 will consist of over 30 playable levels which will be named:
- Greenflower Zone
- Techno Hill Zone
- Deep Sea Zone
- Castle Eggman Zone
- Arid Canyon Zone
- Red Volcano Zone
- Dark City Zone
- Doomship Zone
- Eggrock Zone
These are the levels that will be included in the game, but many more will be downloadable at the SRB2 forums or the addons section of the website. As well as downloading levels from the website you can also download more characters from the forums or the addons section rather than playing with the 3 characters included with the game, (Sonic, Tails and Knuckles).
SRB2 also includes a multiplayer mode where you can have races against your friends, matches where you can battle it out to the end or Capture the Flag (More commonly known as CTF in SRB2) where you can play against your friends in teams.
SRB2 is a truly spectacular game, and I would recommend it to all Sonic the Hedgehog fans, and all others because it is one of the best games I have ever played.
