The Sims 2: Basements Basics

This is a basic tutorial for creating basements, along with three tips for making your basement look delight.

Sims 2, Only four floors, without cheats on, of course. Sounds satisfying, right? But, of course, it would always be delightful to have 5 floors, am I right?

Well, it's possible! When you create a house plan, plan a house with a foundation, and start building your foundation shape. Ah. Finished, aren't we? No? What's wrong? We're missing the basement! Simply shape a hole in your foundation in the shape you desire. How delightful, you have a a hole. Now what? The ground leveling kicks in, that's what.

Now that you've created your foundation with the desired basement shape, use a wallpaper tile with top and bottom borders, different looking borders in each side should make it easier to discover when you've leveled too far. Now, take your dig hole option in the leveling tools, and dig a hole of 16 clicks. If you think you've done it right, put some stairs in there and see if they're available. If they are, you got yourself a basement.

Level your whole basement and start furnituring, you can drag some floor over the basement at the top of the foundation to hide the hole.

Tips For Making Your Basement Look Better:

  1. For a storage basement that's barely used, put an antique-looking wallpaper and a dirty tiled floor or old pattern, and put things in there such as old fridges, dirty ovens, televisions, and things that fit the environment. If you have a piping add on, use a pipe system and an utility box system if you have such mod. It could help allot to the look.
  2. If you have a modern house, and you want your basement to be a hanging out place, why not have a little fenced hole in your first floor to make the basement floor brighter and more modern? It's a delight to see a significant modern design indoors, too!
  3. If you have a 1-tile foundation space between the foundation, for your choice you can delete 3 tiles horizontal to the basement, and create an outern wall instead. Add some a couple of windows, a door, and a downhill to the entrance, and voila. You have a backdoor basement entrance for your house! How delight!

you hold down the ctrl key and drag your mouse across the foundation. Or, you can just use the sledge hammer tool.
