Guitar Hero is a game that is sweeping the nation. With its addictive game play and memorable songs it has become a main stable among gamers, whether they are casual or a more hardcore gamer like myself.
The first news of the newest production of Guitar Hero producers Harmonix was released in the July 2007 edition of Game Informer magazine. So far of what the media and myself know the game's unofficial title is Rock Band and is set to come out for Sony's Playstation 3 (PS3) and Microsoft's X-Box 360 (360).
The instruments are now more varied including: Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocals. A new guitar will be released with the game. It will contain 5 lower frets like the previous ones, but will also include 5 upper frets of the same kind that will make the games hammer-ons and pull-offs easier and more under control. The drums have four separate pads with a kick pedal.
In many cases you will see the yellow pad double as your high-hat and the green pad will become your crash cymbal/floor tom. As for the vocals they are state of the art and the computer in the game will not only recognize the words coming out of your mouth, but understand the exact pitch coming out of the singers mouth for better judgment of the players skills.
As for the older controllers such as the 360's Explorer controller that came with the 360 version of Guitar Hero II they will be compatible with Rock Band as well as PS2 controllers and all third party controllers. However, even though the older controllers will be playable it is still recommended that the newer Fender inspired controller.
Now for the beloved story mode. This is what you've been waiting for and here's the low-down. There are three story modes for guitar, drums, and vocals. As for the bass it will be left out as there was not enough content to established a detailed story mode. Alas, even though there is no story mode for the bass it will be available for play in quick play mode in addition to multi-player.
Not much more information has been released of the game so far but it is certain that this is something that every PS3 and 360 owner must be sure to pick-up. I will keep all of my readers up dated on this topic as soon as I learn more.
