In Silkroad online, a player (upon hitting level 20) may choose to participate in 3 Jobs, Hunter, Thief and Trader. Each are different but play important roles within the game.
Hunter : It is the Hunters duty to take down any Thief and to defend the traders from being robbed. Watch out for Thief.
Thief : It is the Thief duty to eliminate any traders and their transport to obtain good which they can sell. However, they need to watch out for both Hunter and Traders.
Trader : The Trader must travel across Silkroad to other towns with a transport full of Goods. These goods are worth a lot more than 100% if the trader manages to cross to another town, leaving them with a healthy profit. However, the trader can be robbed by thieves and risk losing their goods.
A player can be all 3 jobs! However, levelling jobs can be difficult so I would choose a main job. You get exp for your selected job for:
Hunter : Killing Thieves
Thief : Handing in Stolen Goods
Trader : Selling goods to another town
However, you lose exp for certain jobs if you get exp for a different one
Hunter loses Exp on thief
Thief loses Exp on trading and hunting
Trader loses Exp on thief
Some Tips for a Trader
All Trade runs have a level, ranging from 1 to 5 Star, the more stars there is, the more difficult the trade run will be. At 1 Star, player thieves are unable to attack the trader, however, NPC thieves do spawn and attack. If you are a low level and are worried about losing your goods, go as a 1 star.
People believe that going in groups is a lot better, in most cases yes, but only go with people around the same level as you. If you go with a higher level, the NPC thief that spawned off their trade will be around their level and there is a chance that it may attack you. I would say stick with a 5 level gap between the traders unless you have some hunters helping.
Although you are on a 1 star trade run, player thieves still have a way of killing you. What out for thieves that are travelling in front of you, as they may be hoping that their NPC thieves will spawn and attack you, leaving you with a horde of thieves hitting your transport, eventually killing both you and your transport leaving the thief a nice pile of loot to pick up and sell.
Do not be mistaken by thieves with a low level weapon, many thieves like to trick their targets, in this case it may be you, and get you to attack them thinking that they are a low level and you can kill them, the second you attack, they put on a high level weapon and are eligible to kill you! If you are on a 1 star run, do not attack any Player thieves!
Thieves also have another plan of taking you down, if you see a thief that is running around with a large group of monsters behind them, it will most likely mean that they are trying to get them to attack you. At this point, stay on your transport or mount it if you are on foot and keep healing your transport, if possible find a hunter and get him to take the thief out.
Some Tips for a Hunter
Do not be mistaken by thieves with a low level weapon, they like it when hunters attack them and get mistaken by their weapon, making you angry and him standing over you, then moving onto a friends transport if it is 2 star or more.
Keep stocked up on healing potions, if you are guarding a trade, you will need a lot of potions to keep you alive! If the trade you are guarding is 2 star or higher, be prepared for a large fight!
Keep your Berserk handy, do not waste it on 1 thief unless they are a higher level than you, you never know when you might find a group of thieves waiting.
Go with a group of hunters, a large trade run will spawn many NPC thieves and attract other players too. If you are guarding 4 traders by yourself, then you will have to take down 4 thieves at a time, that's not including the players!
Get payment, hunters are usually hired! Unless of course it is a friend and you just want to help them, that is fine, but if someone asks you for help with their trade run, ask them how much they will pay if you want payment.
Some Tips for a Thief
Thieving can be very difficult at times, you need to be patient.. If you are waiting for a trader to die, be notified that if they are 1 star, they most likely will not die. However, if they are any higher, you are free to attack.
What out for other thieves, as a thief, you obviously have to steal things, and that's what others may do. If you kill a trader, the loot that is dropped is not bound to anyone, so while you are waiting 20 seconds to get a transport out, another thief may come along and steal your well earned loot! To stop this, before you kill a trader, have a transport ready! You do not need to be riding it to pick up trade goods.
Like with hunters, keep your berserk ready, you may have times where many hunters will attack you!
Have a number of horses ready, and a lot of transport potions! Horses are faster than camels of the Ox, meaning that if you find a trader on one of them, you can simply pass in front of him and get your NPC thieves to kill the trader. If you want to successfully do this, you may need to get a 3 star or higher meaning more NPC thieves will spawn.
Have a lot of bandit den return scrolls ready, you never know what might happen out there and at some point you may want to cancel your scroll to pick up some loot that is just lying there!
I hope these tips have given you some warnings of what my happen out there in Silkroad online! Good Luck with your Job!
Thieves, be a man. Go attack someone your own level. All you prove by killing a trader with your npc thieves is that you're a loser. End of story.
