Rappelz Pet Choice Guide

This article helps players choose the right pet for their play style in Rappelz. Includes all pet names and a basic overview of the strengths, weaknesses, and uses of each pet.

This pet guide briefly describes the different pets, states how rare they are, where to farm for them, their common and exact names, and their general use. Just as a heads up, almost all pets have a stun, just different durations and types.

Template: Pet Type: (Evolution 1 name (level 1-60 with over breed), Evolution 2 name (level (50) 60-115 with over breed, Evolution 3 name (100) 115+) Type of pet and additional information)

Rarity: Basic (Empty cards available from Merchants or drops)

Pantera: (Pantera Junior, Pantera Hunter, Pantera Chief) Basic attacking cat (similar to fighter) with decent move speed.

Poultry: (Bloody Poultry, Burning Poultry, Poultry Crown) Basic attacking chicken (similar to strider) that deals high, quick damage at high levels with a decent area of effect spell. Has a skill that adds 150 or 300 magic damage at max levels of the skill. Has high evasion and kiting possibility.

Tortus: (Solid Tortus, Quake Tortus, Volcano) Basic tank (similar to holy warrior) with a short physical defense buff (+75, +150, +225) that can be placed on the tortus itself, the pet owner, or other players and pets. This buff lasts for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the level. Tortuses have high defense and make great tanks for squishy damage dealers or other classes.

Rarity: Common (Empty cards available from level 30+ monsters of the same type, or from buying from other players who got the drop)

Blue Pixie: (Water Pixie, Aqua Pixie, Ocean Fairy) Efficient healer (similar to cleric) with a self mana recovery buff and 3 minute party hp/mana recovery buff with 10 minute cooldown, but blue pixies have low armor. Excellent for farming/grinding with when soloing, especially for classes that cannot heal themselves. Also an excellent pet for clerics (or priests and bishops) when healing a party. In this case the blue pixie acts as a second healer with a decent mana pool and mana recovery.

Red Pixie: (Fiery Pixie, Blades Pixie, Firestorm Fairy) High fire magic damage dealing pet (similar to dark magician, chaos magician, and warlock, with less crowd control). Red pixies deal high damage and thus draw lots of threat, but they have very low physical defense. Red pixies make great pets for soloing as a tank or for Player vs. Player combat where three to four red pixie spells can kill most squishy classes around your level.

Siren: (Siren Child, Siren Lady, Siren Queen) A good damage (magic and physical) dealer with good debuffs (for enemies). Many players use Sirens as ranged pets (equip a bow or crossbow to the pet) that deal high damage in bursts and have powerful spells that weaken opponents. Sirens have moderate to low armor and do not make good tanks. Sirens are more of a support damage dealer.

Skeleton: (Skeleton Fighter, Skeleton Warrior, Chaos Knight) Decent physical damage dealer with excellent debuffs and shade damage over time skills. Generally has a fast physical attack speed and high evasion. Great all-around damage dealing pet.

Orc: (Orc Junior, Orc Warrior, Orc Lord) High physical damage dealer with decent armor at low levels and high armor at high levels. Can both tank and deal damage (similar to a soldier or champion). Orcs also have an efficient self-heal called First-Aid. At level 80 and above, Orcs have a buff known as Strong Warrior (as long as you save 6 job points for it) that increases physical attack and defense of any friendly target by 110 for 11 minutes. At level 130, this buff can be improved to 170 physical attack and defense with a 15 minute duration. Orcs are heavily based on the passives you choose for them, making both their regular attack and skill attacks vastly stronger.

Yeti: (Yeti Thoth, Yeti Prime, Avalanche) Excellent tank with many defensive abilities including a party buff that heals slightly and increases physical defense by 20% for a short period. If you are a squishy class and do not plan to get hit at all, a yeti is right for you (better than a tortus). Yetis deal decent damage, but nowhere close to the damage an orc puts out. Plus yetis are the cheapest and most common of all the common pets.

Rarity: Rare (Empty cards available from level 30+ monsters of the same type, or from buying from other players who got the drop, empty card drops are considerably rarer than common pets with a very low success rate on taming)

Salamander: (Petit Salamander, Salamander Crescent, Salamander King) Great physical damage dealer with good debuffs and stuns. Salamanders are said to have similar skills as Skeletons, but have higher stats, look cooler, and deal way more damage. Has both spells and physical attack skills. Has a fast physical attack speed and high evasion. Excellent pet that has the possibility to evade-tank or just hold its own.

Hawkman: (Hawkman, Nighthawk, Raven) Excellent tank (a better version of the common Yeti, including similar skills) that deals damage almost up to par with an orc. Has defensive abilities and are quite large and intimidating. Often considered the weakest of the rare pets, Hawkmen are still formidable pets.

Kentauros: (Junior Kenta, Kentauros Avenger, Lord of Kentauros) Excellent damage and dealer and good tank. A better version of the Orc with similar skills, Kentas deal high damage and a decent speed and have many offensive abilities. At this time it is unknown whether or not they have the Strong Warrior buff. Kentas are exceedingly rare, yet insanely good damage dealing pets.

Angel: (Purity Angel, Cherubim, Seraphim) High magic damage dealing pet with heals similar to the blue pixie. Angels are basically an upgraded version of a cross between the Blue and Red Pixies. Angels have moderate to low armor, but deal high magic damage and can heal as well if not better than Blue Pixies, making them a great pet for soloing, dungeon partying, and Player vs. Player-ing.

hum, salamander and hawkman are Uncomon, only angel and kenta are rare

In epic 4 they changed the number of "Rarity groups" from 5 to 3.
There are only Basic, Common and Rare now.

jus some criticism....
You make the skell sound like a rubbish pet in comparison to the salamander... This is not true... THe skell has the EXACT some skills as the skells, their stats is jus higher to such a small extent, that once the its a r4+ pet, it makes no diff -.-\"

You also make the tortus sound like a joke in comparison to the Yeti. Yes in terms of hp, the yeti and hawk certainly owns more than a tort. But you forget main thing about the tortus, its pdef is far superior when well skilled correctly to them AND the tortus does more damage incomparison to the yeti. My lvl 86 tort for instance can hit 4.2k crits with healer and huna buffs (no BS/SB buffs). So the tort can do some dding (although not as insane as an orc/kenta/rp/pant)

The pantera sounds like a piece of trash in your guide. The pantera has the 2nd higher spike damage in game, just after the RP (at lvl 115+25, they can hit 31k dmg ... see forums for video and screenies). This pet certainly is not inferior to the orc, and infact they are about nearly as strong, in terms of pure dmagage. (also borrowed my friend lvl 87 pant to see how much dmg they do^^)

And you can \"upgrade\" a bps and rps defense by giving them warrior armor and adding vit stones in the equips. My bp certainly isnt as squishy as most people thing. It can survive somewhat 8-9 hits from a lvl 105++ mob in pp.

Except from those critiques, u did a good job^^, i cant criticise the other pets, since i dont have them myself and therefore it would be hypocritical of me ^^

Tell me what pet for each class!
#8 by Sadistica, May 7, 2008
I'm having trouble finding the npc that sells the empty cards. Could someone briefly tell me where it is? Oh, and what pet is best for a strider going to be a Shadow Hunter?
#9 by whynotme, Jun 9, 2008
You say a yeti's damage is no way near a orcs, thts not true. although there not dds there damage is pretty decent. in a matter of fact, skells are getting more popular, better and stronger( atk speed buff in e5 )LOL at your pantrea description ^^ funny stuff
