Rappelz: Races, Classes, and Strategies

Here's a description of the nine classes of Rappelz to show you how to play them.

Rappelz is a very fun mmorpg. However, when creating a character, it is hard to say what class will be right for you if you do not know there strengths and how they are played.

Overview:

When creating a character, you have the option to choose one of 3 races, Deva, Asura, and Gaia. For the first 10 levels, you must play as the base class for these races, but after this you may choose your specialty. Each race then has three specialty classes that one may choose from, a warrior class, a summoner class, and a magic class.

Deva: Holy Warrior

Holy Warriors are the class with the highest defense and health in the game, and also have some great shield skills that further boost their defense and help prevent monsters from attacking other party members. They can be used in many different ways with many weapons. Players who choose the one handed mace and shield route are the “true tanks” for maces give stun skills and skills that further allow them to hold a monster attacking them.

However, low mace damage makes soloing go slowly and makes the player highly dependent on skills to hold the monster. Spear users are the opposite, and although they still have the same high defense and health, they do not have any stuns, skills to keep mobs off party mates, or the ability to block enemy attacks that is very helpful for tanks. The advantage to the spear is that it allows them to do very good damage, especially at higher levels, and makes soloing much quicker.

The most common other option (maybe more popular than both the other two common methods) is to use a one handed sword and shield. This gives the benefits of the shield and decent damage with the sword. It also provides a skill that replenishes the player's mana, making it so they virtually never run out. However, you lack the stun skills of the mace and the very high damage of the spear. These players are still able to “tank” in parties, and can also solo, though somewhat slow compared to other classes.

Cleric:

The cleric is the Deva magician. As in most games, it is the best healer class. They are essential to all Dungeon Parties (DPs.) They have some very good healing spells, and also “buffs.” Thee buffs improve the targets physical attack, defense, speed, mana regeneration, and magic attack greatly. They have fairly weak health and defense, but do have some good magic attacks. They are also on of the best player vs. player (PVP) classes. They are commonly used with two weapons.

The more common of these is probably a staff, do to its higher magic attack. How well a cleric heals depends on its magic attack. This also helps increase damage on spell attacks. The other most common weapon is a mace. These give clerics better damage due to their greater physical attack. However, although they do boost magic attack, it is not nearly as high as a staffs, although it is MUCH higher than a non magic weapon. Maces are commonly used by clerics that like to solo, for they give them much quicker killing, making them good "solo-ers" as well.

Breeders:

Gaia: Fighter

This is the in between warrior class of defense and health and damage. Fighters are played in 3 very different ways. One of the most common is the bow fighter. They have very high physical attack, but slow attack speed. They also have some powerful skills that allow them to do great amount of damage before there foes even get close. Bow fighters play essential roles in DPs as “pullers.” They shoot mobs and pull them into the rest of the group. Another common weapon is the 2 handed axes. These massive weapons also have very high physical attack, but slow attack speed. They come with some good skills as well, such as log split which greatly decreases the enemy's defenses and party members love.

Both these strategies allow them to also be very good at PVP. The third way they are used is rather different, and as duel wielders. This allows them to good damage quickly using two swords, but they are not as good at PVP.

Kahuna:

Spell-Singer:

Spell singers are pet classes that have many skills giving them well rounded pets and a skill to replenish their pet's health over time, similar to a kahuna's healing skill but only works on their pets. They are most commonly used with axes and can do good damage. However, they are not great "solo-ers".

Asura: Strider

Dark Magician:

This may be the best damage class in game (excluding people with really good pets.) They have many very powerful attack spells and rely heavily on their mana. They have many attack spells, including ones to stun their enemies, steal health from an enemy, and the best attack spell in the game (darkness arrow) although you must wait a minute between uses, and two quick casting and cooling fire attack spells that can be casted again almost immediately. They fight mainly from range and melee very rarely. Their very low health and defense can make it hard to solo however. They are used almost always with staffs.

Sorcerer:

This pet class has some very good damage spells. They also have high damage pets normally. They are usually used with a staff or mace, and sometimes a shield if their pet will not be able to tank for them (both weapons come in 1 handed varieties.) A sorcerer's ability depends largely on their pet. If they can manage to find or buy an orc or skeleton (which are very rare and expensive) they can be dominant "solo-ers" and great damage doers. This is because of the skill Creature Life Leech which gives back a percentage of the pet's damage as health for the pet. Because the pets do such good damage, this allows them to gain health as fast as they loose it (if they pet has a good enough weapon and is strong enough) against even some of the best monsters.
