Salamence is a great Pokemon. It has base 600 stats (pretty high, mind you...) and a diverse movepool to work with. Used correctly, and it will destroy most Pokemon.
Here are two of Salamence's most commonly used and most effective move sets:
Specsmence:
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Hydro Pump
- Item: Choice Specs
- Nature: Modest
- Evs: 4hp/252spatk/252spd
A great move set. You can Draco meteor everything but steel as this is the only type that does not resist it. Flamethrower is for those pesky steels that try to wall you. The last two moves are for the sake of type coverage.
PhysicalMence
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Stone Edge/Rock Slide
- Nature: Adamant
- Evs: 4hp/252atk/252spd
A physical Salamence. Its a solid Pokemon. Dragon claw is for STAB, earthquake because it such a good move, fire blast for the steels and ice Pokemon. Take your pick between Stone edge and rock slide. Stone edge is more powerful and rock slide is more accurate.
Conclusion: Salamence is a very powerful Pokemon that is capable of ripping through an entire team. Underestimate it at your peril...
