When he is all done and you choose your name and gender, you will begin the game. You start out in a moving van and when it stops move toward the light rectangle to get out. Your mom comes and tells you to go inside. Pokémon are moving about getting your house ready to live in. Your mom tells you to set the clock. It is upstairs. Go downstairs and watch your dad talk in the gym. Go outside and visit your next door neighbor's house. The parent in that house tells you that their kid is upstairs.
Go up there and talk to them by pressing the A button. They will start talking and then run out forgetting that they are supposed to be helping the professor do something. Go downstairs, and out the house. Head north to find that Professor Birch is being attacked by a Zigzagoon. Go next to the pack and press A. You will see a screen that has three balls. One has the water Pokémon: Mudkip, Another has the fire type Torchic and the final one has a grass type: Treecko. Choose which one you want. (I would recommend Torchic or Mudkip) Press A on the attack option. Depending on whom you picked choose tackle, scratch or pound. Once it is defeated he will take you back to his lab. Birch will let you keep he Pokémon you chose. That is how you get your starter. I will soon make a 2nd part on how to get your first badge.
