Story: 9/10
I haven't finished the game yet so I can not comment on the overall outcome of the plot. I, however, have played enough of the game to say that it is a stand alone and not an expansion. Sure, a lot of the character selections are the same and some people might feel let down because this game doesn't play dead and roll over . . . however it is a great title and I love playing it for the story.
The 'other' review says the story/plot is 0/10, And I extraneously disagree. There is something for everyone in this game. The ancient Asian ming dynasty feel to this game is incredible. It's hard to pay attention to the missions when there is a huge monastery with red Chinese arches and a bunch of players dancing in sync. It's a huge change from the first game simply because of the story. So how does it merit a zero out of ten? Somebody must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed :^/
Graphics: 10/10
I think a lot of people don't understand how hard it is to create a really good game. The graphics Factions offer is a testament of how graphics should be done. Period. There is a whole new map with explorable regions containing harbors complete with boats and islands off in the distance. Very cool.
Music and Sound: 8/10
The soundtrack (which I have no intent on buying) is soothing. It's background music and that is its purpose. The sound effects are ok and the voice over during plot cinematics need work. One of the characters, Master Togo, sounds like a nervous 13 year old. :^D No offense to 13yr olds, its just the character is supposed to be old.
Gameplay: 9/10
The gameplay hasn't changed from the other title. There are a lot more skills to learn and 2 new characters. I love the assassin. I haven't played the tournament and group battles because I'm still playing the main story. I think there is room for improvement, but I don't know where ANET would find room in this gigantic and beautiful game.
Price: 10/10
Another point I want to throw out is that we're looking at a story here. The story offers plenty of game play contrary to the other reviews beliefs. I've played for a long time and I haven't got off the first Island yet. So I feel I got my moneys worth for that part. Oh, don't forget that there is NO ONLINE CHARGES. So instead of wasting my money on a FF game or Evercrack and paying each month I'll be in a guild meeting new people and dancing around.
Overall: 10/10
