Goal Line Blitz: Every Fantasy Football Player's Dream

Review of a new and upcoming american football mass multiplayer online game.

If you are like me, then you are very weird and should seek immediate counseling! Ok, so seriously, If you like fantasy sports but like a little more “hands-on” and role playing, well then I have an awesome solution for you. Well, if you are still reading this, then I will be fair and tell you more! GLB is a fully simulated, web-based American Football MMORPG (Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The only drawback is that due to legal issues, they could not reproduce official NFL stuff so they created their own custom engine where the player (humans-the ones behind the computer screen) are in full control. With hundreds of leagues on every continent, you are bound to find a team that suites you. Teams were owned by CPUs but all of them have been bought by players.

To get started, you create a player and go through a sort of training camp, editing attributes and such. You have full control over the type of player you create, from what he wears, to how much he trains. You gain experience by your actual play time in the game, so a good attribute to train is stamina: more stamina=more PT. You sign with different teams, if you're having trouble getting on a team, just go to the forums and by the time you return to your contracts page, you will be amazed by the response. As a player, you can talk to the team's owner and become a GM, OC, or DC. Each job is exactly like their real life counterpart: you scout other teams, look at their strategies, and post in your team forum (only team members can look in here) as to each games strategy. You can also own a team, managing EVERY aspect of a football team-stadium, tickets and concessions, signing releases and trades, game-by-game strategies, and so much more.

When I first started playing, you could only watch the game in replay, but now, you can watch it live and see your perennial star in action! There is no limit to the number of players you can have, and you just keep leveling, which, unlike many other mmo's, is extremely easy and un-challenging. The players train at night, so most times, by the time you wake up, your player has leveled up.

Personally, I have loved the experience; it's been very fun and educational. I think every fantasy football lover should try this one.
