Disgaea Portable: Afternoon of Darkness

The port of the cult hit PS2 strategy game, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. It is going to be released in the United States on October 30, 2007.

Disgaea Portable: Afternoon of Darkness

A preview for Disgaea for PSP.

First of all, this preview will only be about the differences and new things so it won't be very long.

Chapter 1: Getting Started (Again)

Well you start exactly after the same cut scenes (which isn't really bad, I loved the intro) with Laharl, Etna and 3 Prinnies. After playing the first level a few times you maybe have a few characters to survive the next levels. I'm not sure but did the game become harder?

Now to the first difference: The PSP has a smaller resolution than the PS2 and this seemed to be a reason for Nippon Ichi to remove the stats from the Interface. You can now only see the HP and SP the Level and the Elemental Resistances the move distance and the JumpPower.

Chapter 2: The Item World

Sad but true: Everything's the same, also the bugs of the Item World like the unbeatable builts there. When I was sent there from the story line I encountered one of these unbeatable builts but in the PS2 version I had another where I was forced to put 3 Boots into one Character only to get out of the Base Panel.

Chapter 3: The Progress NPC

One new thing in the game is the progress NPC which can tell you how much of the game you have already seen like how many % of the weapons you have seen, what classes you have and other things but I can't tell more since I can't read Japanese.

Picture 6

Well that's it for now cause I got the Japanese version from a friend and since I don't understand it and was only able to play it cause I already knew the game, but it seems it has a bug cause I was sent into the Item World with the mission to upgrade an item to Level 10, at least it seems like that, but I now have 2 Level 10 items and I still can't get any further now.
