The first thing you must understand about Travian is that the game play is all about production per hour. The player with the most amount of resources per hour will be the winner. What are the resources for? Why do you need them so much?
- To build new buildings.
- To build a mighty army.
Buildings allow you to get new features like hiding some resources in case of an ambush and so many more that I am not going to write them down here.
You need an army to stand against enemy attacks and to attack enemies to get their resources and to weak them.
If you want to make to the top you must have all the GOLD options activated all the time. I mean +25% of all resources, +10% combat ability and Travian Plus. If you are not rich you can always get gold by referring your friends. Shortage of friends? No problem. Make a website about Travian and place a link to the game and when a new player registers and get a good amount of villagers you get some gold.
Now to get even more resources you must farm the nearby villages and some distant ones too. Farming can boost your "production" up to 1000x times if you know how to make it!
You need a huge and organized army. Cavalry is the best for quick attacks without giving the enemy time to build defenses. Then just continue attacking all the other villages one after another to steal their resources.
Build the best wall you can plus a big number of defensive troops because you will be attacked!
Last but not least, get resources by trading for a profit in the market! You can dominate this field if you have enough resources to make good offers and a lot of caravans!
