You've joined a game, was killed by Dim Star before you even reached Star Dock.
You've created a Dual, who joined the game when Dim Star was off. Dual has traded the Cruiser for an Orion, and been amassing credits and fighters.
The entire day's turns have been spent by Dual buying fighters and depositing them in sectors not far from the Star Dock, where Dual will end his turns having put cash into You's account.
You now logs on, fills the Scout Maurader which is the 'default' for murdered newbies, with Corbomite Transducers, and with the mentality of a suicide bomber looks to be killed by Dim Star.
Corbs do 20 points of damage per device. Load the Scout with them, and save turns so that You can log on when Dim is on.
As Dim Star attacks You, the Corbomite Transducers explode, his ship is destroyed, and he'll find himself in an escape pod.
At that point, Dual arrives and kills him.
Dim Star will now be 'off' until the next 'day', that is one minute past midnight, Ship's Time.
Right after killing him, Dual deposits credits in You's account to enable the quick purchase of another Scout, and goes to one of the sectors where fighters have been secreted and logs off.
Expecting Dim to log on at one minute past midnight, to get back into the game, both of your characters return at eleven fifty nine, ship's time.
And both your characters wait.
Dual is going to kill Dim Star as soon as he gets back on.
Remember, Dim has wasted resources killing You on day one. He's just been podded and killed, so has lost everything he's had. If he hasn't saved credits at the Star Dock, he's going to be in a crap ship.
He might not have the cash to buy more than a few shields or fighters. He's easy pickings.
And don't you feel sorry for him.
Psychopaths who blow newbies deserve to die.
