As your first action, you've hit (I) to check what you have, then (C)omputer (C)heck to learn about the ship you're on. You're proud to have checked the specs, for they have been tweaked. The Cruiser, though still taking 3 turns to Warp, has the capacity of 100 Holds. You leave your freebie planet, having hit (N)(S) to reach the Star Dock.
Suddenly, you're dead. Your ship has been attacked and destroyed, and you have been killed in your pod by Dim Star. You must wait a "day" (until 1 minute past midnight ship's time) to re-log on. You haven't played the game for five minutes when a psychopath like Dim Star kills you. Your first reaction is to leave this game, this server, forever, and go and do something else. No. Don't give up. It's a new game, he can't be all that powerful. You can take him down and enjoy doing it. Firstly, check the general specs, find out if there is a "time limit". If there isn't, notify the Sysop as to what happened. The Sysop is not running a game for the sole joy of Dim Star. He is likely to rebang the universe, meaning it's a brand new game with a time limit. Trust me on this one. Sysops/Admins want lots of players. They want popular games. They are not running a game for one moron.
In most cases, however, the Sysop/Admin has put in a time limit, hence you wait until Dim Star is off and rejoin the game under another Nick. (You can find out Who is Playing? (usually #) from the same menu that lists the games. This feature is there so you can avoid morons like Dim Star. If you do screen captures from various games listed at www.stardock.com you will see something like this;

SerpenKin and You were destroyed at start. Kayla and Aaster actually got to play a little before being destroyed. ESord created a character and logged off without playing. It is pretty clear from the point score, Sketor and Jud are not all that interested in the game. For Dim Star, this is Life. This will make destroying him that much sweeter. Hence, don't quit.
Either get the Universe rebanged or wait until he is off to start a new character. Now let me make this clear; you are going to "cheat". But, desperate times take desperate measures. Dim Star needs to be disciplined and You is the one who is going to do it.
