The Best Internet Games of 2008

There are so many games on the Internet. Everything from small flash games, to huge worlds. There are one player games, two player games, and the multi player games, where thousands, yes, even millions of players compete. In fact, there's hard to choose between so many good games.

The big games on the Internet, like Runescape, Puzzle Pirates and Club Penguin, fights with what they got, to be on the top. And as they big ones fights to stay at the top, the smaller ones struggle to don't drown in the mass. What I think is important in a game, is the game play.

But let us get started

The outstanding game through many years have been Runescape. It's a JAVA based on line game, and it's free to play. Runescape is a MMORPG (Massive Multi-player On-line Role-Playing Games), and is the most popular, and the best, on-line game.

There are more than 5,000,000 members, and there are thousands of people that join the fun every day! Runescape finds place in a time that looks like the middle age, but have got modern items. It's a 3D game, and there are more than 150 servers, that can take up to 2000 players each. When you first start playing Runescape, you start as a level 3. As you fight your way through the levels, you will get new weapons, new armor, new friends, and you will discover new places. Runescape is filled with combat, but also got skills like cooking, fishing and mining. And it's all free! But, you can also choose to be a member, which gives you more than 8000 items, more monsters, new areas, more than 150 new quests and much more, and all for only $5-8 per month. Runescape is a really outstanding game today, and even the free to play version captures the prize for the best free on-line game today.

Another free game is Puzzle Pirates. It's a game filled with puzzles, just as the name says. The down side with Puzzle Pirates, is that you have to pay to be able to get good items, and better rank. We also got games like Premiership Football, where you start with a amount of money, and buy players from Premier League. The scores is calculated after how good your chosen players play in the real Premier League, so choose wisely!

I can't help but mentioning World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft is a MMORPG (Massive Multi-player On-line Role-Playing Games), that takes place in Azeroth. You will have to fight your way to level 70, by killing monsters and doing quests. World of Warcraft have passed 10,000,000 paying members, and there is at least 200,000 players on private servers. It's often updated, and the customer service is great. The hottest of the hottest on the MMORPG market today is Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, made by Funcom. Ace of Conan takes place in Hyboria, a fantasy world made by Robert E. Howard. The game is aimed on the grown up gamers, as you can chop your enemies heads of, there is lot's of blood, and it's more realistic than any other MMORPG game ever before. The new fighting system named "Real Combat", is a revolution! You have to choose where to hit your opponent, and have to hit parts of his body where he got no, or less armor.

But still, World of Warcraft is probably the best game out there now, but as soon as Age of Conan gets rid of the bugs it will be a strong opponent.

But as time goes by, both graphics, and game play are changed, so there will always be a fight for the customers between the games. The games I listed here will probably stay at the throne the next year, but hey, everything may happen.

You're wrong about RuneScape. It's not completely Free To Play. You have to pay to be able to access the entire game. And RuneScape didn't reach 5,000,000 members. They reached 1,000,000. If you're talking about the total members, including the free players then still it wouldn't be 5,000,000. Because most of these accounts were either bots, real world traders and other accounts for cheating.

I would Know if Club Penguin was trying to reach #1. I bet they just want to be in the top five.

In fact, on Runescape's main page, they say they got 120,000,000 players.

As my name suggests i am a fan of lotro yes BUT Runescape is a great game... id vote it #1 Browser based MMO out there... it has got loads of players (im sure it has atleast 5,000,000 non bots or attempts BUT im guessing about 2,500,000 are just alts of the other 2,500,000). The Free player is OK... and membership is one of the cheapest membership fees out there when it comes to MMOs. The new graphics update also boosts it straight up to that #1 Browser game.

I still prefer LotRO by far because of its fantastic gameplay and its amazing graphics... Here is an article about it:
