Runescape's Official Combat Training Guide

Make it all the way to level 126 with the help of this guide.

This guide has been created to help you level your Runescape character to his/her maximum potential. This guide shows you: what equipment you can use once you reach a certain level, and what monsters are best to train on to raise your combat level.

Monsters and leveling guide

For free players

  • Level 3: Cows are the best place to start leveling once you get off of tutorial island.
  • Level 30+: Al-kharid warriors are one of the best ways to train in F2p worlds
  • Level 40: Hobgoblins are the way to go once you hit level 40.
  • Level 50: This is a difficult level, I would recommend jail guards.
  • Level 60: The deadly red spiders that are found in Varrok's sewers.
  • Level 70: Lesser demons are one of the best ways to train once you hit level 70.

Tip: Once you hit level 40 attack, 50 strength and 40 defense, it will be possible for you to complete all of the free player quests.

I hope this section has helped all free to play players!

Monsters and leveling guide

Members

Level 30: Rock crabs are one of the most favorable ways to train considering they have tons of health you can just hack away at.

Level 40: Thugs are a good way to train at this level.

Level 60-99: Ok, experiments are the best monsters to train against in the whole game. They have 100 health each and are only level 30, so they carry extremely good experience.

Tip: Experiments have a lot of health and give a lot of experience, but they do not drop anything but bones, so if you are looking to find something off of them it wont happen.

Tips for making money while fighting

  1. Many of the monsters I have mentioned in this guide that will help your experience, may also help you earn quite a bit of money. For example, the lesser demons that you train against once you hit level 70 also drop rune meds and rings of wealth (for members). If you kill enough of these demons you may even be able to afford new equipment, which will in turn pay off itself once your return do the demons.
  2. If you are killing hobgoblins at level 40, make sure you collect all of the limp roots. These sell for a lot and are needed greatly by members to increase their herb lore level. Just make sure you are collecting a lot of these because members like to buy them in bulk.

I have told you everything I know about leveling your character in Runescape! Good luck and I hope you make it to combat level 126!
