This is just an imformational article telling the readers what the online game Runescape is.
RuneScape is an online mmorpg (massive multiplayer online role-playing game). In this game you train stats meet friends and do quests! There are several stats to train including combat and non-combat. Non-combat stats do not affect how you fight creatures and or other players in RuneScape however combat stats do. The current RuneScape combat stats as of 4/22/08 are attack, defense, strength, range, magic, and hit points. Attack is what decides how often you hit with your melee attack and what weapons you can use. Defense decides how often you take damage against melee and range. Magic needs runes to cast and as you cast your spells you use up runes. Magic can hit no matter what the enemies defense is, but what kind of armor they have on. There are special types of armor that give more magic protection than others. Range requires a bow and arrows, or a crossbow and bolts, or there are some thrown weapons such as knives, darts ect. Range is a very powerful stat because it attacks the fastest.
Another main part of RuneScape are non-combat stats. Non-combat stats are useful for making money. There are many of these but I will just discuss a few and how the work. A commonly used non-combat stat is woodcutting. You can cut trees for their logs to sell, use the logs to make bows (for members), or light fires with the logs. Usually the higher the stat the more money you can make with it. Some stats have stopped being used near as much after RuneScape updated. Now some of the stats that made you money make you loose money.
One thing you can always do are quests. In non-member there aren't that many quests but once you become member you have the ability of taking on all 136 quests (as of 4/26/08) and get the quest cape. Certain quests allow you to use different magic spells such as desert treasure and lunar diplomacy. Other quests give you items such as animal magnetism. If you don't want to do any of these thing you can just chat with your friends. Thanks for reading I hope I helped you in some way.
