The Ultimate Guide to 99 Range in Runescape

So, you wanna be a range champion?

Hello, Reader

You probably decided to read this article for the reason that you want really fast xp in range, well don't get your hopes up because this maybe guide for the fastest most efficient xp, but it still will take many hours of training to finally reach level 99…………….

A high range level is a most have, especially if you're a member, purely for the reason of member world's having monsters who could kill you in two swipes of there hand

And since you sometimes have to kill these monsters all by yourself, range is good weapon for the reason that if the monster only uses melee you can hide from it at a distance whilst shooting it with arrows or knives or maybe a cannon? In F2P worlds range is mainly used in PvP combat and not so much against NPC's because most of them (if you're a high level in melee, like say 80 combat) can be killed rather easily. For this reason range is not very important in F2P and very important in P2P.

  • Level 10 to 20
  • Level 30 to 45
  • Level 45 to 55
  • Level 55 to 70
  • Level 70 to ???

(Level 1 to 10)

So, you have just began to train range and are wondering what to kill, at your level the fastest xp would be anything weak such as men, goblins or chickens. My favourite out of all of these would surely be the chickens, because they have decent hp and hardly ever hit. If you want to speed your training you should buy all the bows from normal to maple, as many bronze arrows as you can afford ( up to 10k of bronze arrows are needed, but if you have not much money 1k will be enough) and all the F2P range armours possible ( ignore range armour from mini-games). Also always train on rapid combat style, it may use more arrows but it is faster xp. Range the chickens until level 10.

(Levels 10 to 20)

At this point you should have equipped yourself with an oak bow and if you haven't then do it now. Also if you haven't yet put on hard leather armour then do it now (defence level 10 required otherwise use normal leather armour). This is the part of your training where you will make some decent cash. To start off, grab all your range equipment, an axe and a tinderbox. Then, head to gnome copters (behind lumbridge mill), and right beside gnome copters is a cow pen. Yes, you guessed it we are going to range some cows. Now, your probably wondering “why there, there's lots off other cow pens around lumbridge?”

Well, the only reason for this is because there is a bank deposit box and if that deposit box wasn't there I would have probably told you to go somewhere else. Ok so here's what you do.

  1. make sure you have everything I told you to bring.
  2. you're going to kill the cows and pick up everything they drop.
  3. unless you really want prayer xp don't bury the bones.
  4. if you are a low level and have low hp don't deposit the meat and cut down a tree in the cow pen, then make a fire and cook the meat, don't forget to eat the meat. P.S - you need the food because there are not many safe spots in the pen, though my range pure did survive there without food.
  5. don't forget to deposit that hide.
  6. sell all you collected in the cow pen by using the grand exchange in Varrock.
  7. for extra cash tan the hide before selling.
  8. you should reach level 20 quit quick and when you do, equip yourself with studded leather armour and a willow bow.

(Level 20 to 30)

With all the money that you made while killing the cows buy some more bronze arrows and then head to al kharid

Mine, where you will find lots of scorpions. There are plenty of safe spots and you should range the scorpions

Until level 35 or so.

(Level 30 to 40)

Now its time to leave all kharid and head to the strong hold of security in the barbarian village. Once you arrive there head to the second level and head east until you reach a room with flesh crawlers and giant rats. Only range the flesh crawlers and not the rats (use the rats as blockades).

Pick up all the drops that you get and sell them for extra cash. Don't forget to equip yourself with the maple short bow which is the best F2P bow (not including long bow which is nearly same but you get faster xp with short bow).

(Level 40 to 50)

Now we shall head to the city of the white knights to kill some white knights (a.k.a. falador). The castle has many safe spot, use them wisely because if you are a low level the knights will hit you pretty hard. Also at level 40 you should equip green dragon hide armour.

(Level 50 to 70)

Time to range some moss giants either in varrock sewers or on Crandor. Crandor is recommended since its not multi combat and always less crowded then in varrock sewers. Range these until level 70.

(Level 70 to ???)

Well done, you have come to the hardest part of your training and now you can decide either train on lesser  demons on karamja or to continue training on moss giants on crandor and if you have reached this level your probably a very experienced player and know how to get to the two training spots. Good luck!

Note from author: This is a F2P guide more research must be done before we can release a P2P guide this may take upto a week.

I THINK THE ADVISE IN THIS IS NOT ALL THAT GOOD BUT MOST OF IT IS.BUT A LVL 40 RANGE YOU SHOULD ALSO TRAIN AGAINST LVL 56 COCKROACHS IN THE STRONG HOLD OF PLAYER SAFTEY.

well its a nice guide but it gives almost no further information about after 70 so i suggest that after 70 you should maybe kill greater demons and or lesser's but there is many more like bh,especially for those pure out there but besides that, its good 4/5

the money making in it is really good. the only problem is getting the arrows to begin with... 1k is hard to get with such little mony.

response to superrangpur
it only costs around 5k to get 1k of bronze arrows.
