The Ranging Weapons of Runescape

If you are a ranger, you have to know the bows and crossbows inside out.

This guide will show you various weapons which are beneficial for rangers. Ranging is a good fighting style if you want to avoid fighting up close with players or monsters.

Bows:

Bows are commonly used by players, very useful if you need to kill with a deadly speed. The disadvantage is that you cannot equip a bow with a shield. The difference between a longbows and shortbows is that longbows can shoot at a further distance but shoot slower than a shortbow and the vice-versa for shortbows.

  6. Yew composite bow [+49 Range] - 40 Ranged levels required
  7. Yew long bow [+47 Range] - 40 Ranged levels required
  8. Yew short bow [+47 Range] - 40 Ranged levels required
  9. Composite ogre bow [+38 Range] - 30 Ranged levels required
  10. Ogre bow [+38 Range] - 30 Ranged levels required
  11. Maple longbow [+29 Range] - 30 Ranged levels required
  12. Maple shortbow [+29 Range] - 30 Ranged levels required
  13. Willow composite bow [+22 Range] - 20 Ranged levels required
  14. Willow longbow [+20 Range] - 20 Ranged levels required
  15. Willow shortbow [+20 Range] - 20 Ranged levels required
  16. Oak longbow [+14 Range] - 5 Ranged levels required
  17. Oak shortbow [+14 Range] - 5 Ranged levels required

Crossbows:

Crossbows are not commonly used by lower leveled players, they are more frequently used by players who got money to afford expensive crossbow like the Karil's crossbow which possess great power.

List of Crossbows:

  1. Karil's crossbow [+84 Range] - 70 Ranged levels required
  2. Hunter's crossbow [+55 Range] - 50 Ranged levels required
  3. Runite crossbow [+50 Range] - 61 Ranged levels required
  4. Dorgeshuun crossbow [+42 Range] - 28 Ranged levels required
  5. Adamant crossbow [+41 Range] - 46 Ranged levels required
  6. Mithril crossbow [+36 Range] - 36 Ranged levels required
  7. Steel crossbow [+28 Range] - 31 Ranged levels required
  8. Iron crossbow [+23 Range] - 26 Ranged levels required
  9. Blurite crossbow [+17 Range] - 16 Ranged levels required
  10. Bronze crossbow [+11 Range]
  11. Phoenix crossbow [+6 Range]
  12. Crossbow [+6 Range]

Special attacks of Bows and Crossbows:

Magic crossbow - Snap Shot

Effect of special attack: Fire two rapid shots at your opponent, accuracy decreased.

  1. Magic longbow - Powershot
  2. Magic composite bow - Powershot

Effect of special attack: One shot, increase chance of hitting opponent.

Seercull - Soulshot

Effect of special attack: this attack will reduce your opponent's magic level temporary by the amount of damage you hit your opponent.

Dorgeshuun crossbow - Snipe

Effect of special attack: This attack will lower your opponent's defense level equivalent to the amount of damage hit. A very high chance in hitting unsuspecting opponent (E.g. hitting your opponent by the back)

um ur range bonuses for the crossbows are all wrong. jagex made c bows stronger to appeal to the ranging community.

just to let you know dogy and snow, the feeker2 who posted the zezima comment probably wasn't feeker2, since if you compare his first post with that post, you'll see the first post deliberately capitalized the first F in feeker, and it used proper grammar (where the second post says "help" instead of "helped"); it also capitalized the the S is "so" and ended with punctuation. The second post does none of those. And it's worth noting that lots of people thing the word "zezima" is inherently funny no matter where they put it, like in a comment to an article.

i am f2p and i wont to become a member soon. i have 61 range 50 defence etc. I use a maple short bow and max hit 12. I have 3 questions(please answer them).
1.what shall i use if i have lv 99 range a karil's crossbow or runite crossbow.
2.how much does each rack for karils hold and cost.
3.i heared that karils degrade, can someone explain that to me and how much it is and when you need to.
