The grand exchange is an update made by Jagex on November 26, 2007. It allows Runescape
players to buy and sell items from world to world for a fair amount of gold pieces. The grand exchange is located above Varrock west bank (next to Varrock castle). To use the grand exchange, head north of the Varrock west bank along the path. You will see a tutor as you enter. Talk to him and he will explain how to use it. Once he tells you everything, head for the center of the grand exchange and you will see many bankers. Right click exchange and you can now buy and sell items.
Advantages:
- Allows you to trade to everyone on runescape
- There is no need to world hop on selling items
- You can attempt to buy something without saying it over and over again
- Scamming is now basically impossible
- Items can be bought and sold more easily
Disadvantages:
- Merchanting would become harder for Master merchants
- You cannot set the price of the item (there's a price range for it)
- You will have to type in the formal way of the item's name. Ex: “Instead of typing ammy of power into the item search box, you will have to type amulet of power.” Some players may find it struggling to type it in the formal way.
Tips (How to make use of the Grand Exchange):
- If you are 75 woodcutting or above (75 wc for cutting yews more easily), you can cut yews at Varrock and after each load, head towards the Grand Exchange and sell the yews for 370 each. The yews would immediately be sold and you can now claim your money.
- Another way to earn money from the Grand Exchange is to merchant items by buying for low and selling for a little bit higher. You may discover how to make use of the grand exchange.
