Smithing is clearly one of the hardest skills in RuneScape to train, and it is especially hard if you are a free player. Many have tried to make it to rune smithing, but it takes a really long time and it is extremely expensive. I have put together some tips to help you through your smithing troubles and hopefully get you to the max smithing level.
Here are the tips:
- Smithing is extremely expensive and time consuming, so it helps to be able to mine your own ores and then smith them into bars and then into armor. If your mining level is too low to get the needed ores to improve your smithing, you may end up having to power level that up to the required level.
- If you have enough money to start with, you may be able to make a good profit out of smithing. Once your smithing level hits 30, you can make steel bars. What you can do to make money out of this is buy the needed coal and iron for your bars, smith them into bars, and then sell the bars on the Grand Exchange. This will give you a good profit of 200gp per steel bar. The only down side to this is that you do not get a lot of experience from just making the bars, and hence do not level as quickly.
- Magic is also a key way to make your smithing experience much easier. All you need to do is gain your magic up to level 43 and you can use the spell superheat item. This spell is very handy because it allows you to smith your ores into bars without having to travel all the way to a forge just to make a few bars. This also helps you if you are getting your own ores. This is because you do not have to make the trip back to the bank to store your ores, you can just smith them while you are still in the mine!
- Of course, if you happen to have tons of money, you will be able to buy your own bars and then smith them into the armor. Even though this is the most expensive way to train smithing, it is also the fastest. You also never make up for how much the bars cost, putting you in debt a great amount. But, if this is the most convenient way of leveling your smithing to 99, go ahead and do it.
