Ok, first I'll start off with the question, what is the grand exchange?
The grand exchange, also called the G.E, (grand exchange), is a trading system which allows you to trade in a easier and much faster way.

Where is the G.E located?
You could find the G.E Northwest of Varrock, underneath the Wilderness. There are 2 gates for the G.E, south gate and an east gate, the north and west sides are blocked off. If you are a member you may go underground through the north-west wall.

Why was the G.E made?
Well runescape noticed how hard it was for online players to trade items, and get specific items they wanted, so they made the G.E so the players can recieve/sell the items in an easier and faster way.
How does the G.E work?
The G.E is kind of complicated.
To sell your items do the following:
First, click the sell icon.
Then, select an item in your inventory to sell.
Then, select the selling price then accept the offer.
After that, when the processing bar turns green, your item has been sold, (you can only sell it if some else is buying that item for the same or higher price).
If you are selling 500 items such as fish, and 250 are sold, only half the processing bar will be filled.
To buy an item do the following:
First, click on the buy icon.
Then, if the chat box changes into a buying box type in what you want to buy. If the buying box isn't there click on the box above, and it will appear. After the item you want is typed in and you press enter the chatting box will re-appear.
Next, make your offer on that item, and how many you would like to buy, then conform that offer, (you will only recieve that offer if someone else is selling that item for the same or less price).
When the processing bar turns green your offer for that item has been completed.
Additional Information:
The G.E is available for member and non-members.
It could take days, weeks, or even months for your offer to be completed.
I doubt it would take weeks or months. Mostly it will be completed in 2-3 days.
The prices of most of the items will change every now and then.
So if your offer isn't comleted in a week, you should check if your offer has gone off by over 5% up or down on the item, because then that would be off the minimum or maximum price of the item.
