So you've just finished tutorial island and you're looking for a few quests to do. You might also be hunting quest points for the Champion's Guild you want to enter. Either way, this is the article for you. This article will be listing the easier and quicker quests of Runescape which are free to play. Quests are the main body of Runescape and are a reasonably good way to get your skills started. They can be anything from getting a few ingredients for a cake to slaying dragons.
Cook's Assistant
This quest can be started by talking to the chef in Lumbridge Castle. From there on, all you need is an egg, a bucket of milk and a pot of flower. The egg and the bucket of milk can be both gotten from the ranch just north east of Lumbridge. The egg is gotten from the chicken coop while you can milk a dairy cow for the bucket of milk. To get the flour you need to go to the windmill just northwest of Lumbridge. First you have to pick a handful some grain just outside, then you go into the windmill and process it into flour. Once you have all 3 ingredients, return to the chef to claim your reward (cooking xp and a quest point). This quest took me no more than a couple of minutes.
Sheep Shearer
This quest can be started by talking to the sheep farmer whose located east of the windmill. It is very close to Lumbridge. You will have to find some shears which you will need to shear the sheep with. They can be bought at the general store right near the sheep farmer for 1 gp. Make sure you have enough inventory space to store the 20 pieces of wool. Once you have the wool, go to the second floor of Lumbridge Castle and spin them into balls. Once you have them in balls, return to the farmer to claim your reward (60 gp, a quest point and some crafting experience).
Ernest the Chicken
This quest is actually somewhat long but if you cheat, it can be reasonably quick. You won't need anything besides a little inventory space. The quest is all located at Draynor Mansion, which north of Draynor (east of Lumbridge, follow the road). Talk to the woman outside the grounds of the mansion to accept the quest. Proceed into the mansion and go the top level and talk to the scientist. He will inform you of Ernest's change. You will need a pressure gauge, a rubber tube and an oil can. Look around the mansion to get some poison and some fish food. Use the 2 together to poison the fish food. You will use this later to find the pressure gauge. Once you are on the bottom floor, search a certain bookshelf (it should be leading into another room) to gain access to a not-so-secret room of the house. Once in there, proceed down the ladder to encounter the lever puzzle.
The lever puzzle is moderately easy to solve. Once you have solved it you will get an oil can, one of the necessary quest items. For those lazy people out there, here is the solution:
Pull A
Pull B
Go northeastern door
Pull D
Go southwestern door
Go southern door

Go western door
Go northern door
Pull E

Go western door
Once you have the oil can, go back upstairs to the not-so-secret room, pull the lever and you should be in the main part of the mansion again. Proceed outside (you will have to use the back entrance) and grab the shovel along the way. Go to far western part of the mansion grounds and search the compost heap using the shovel for a key. Then, go south to the fountain where you use the poisonous fish food. The fish should die, and then you will be free to search the fountain. You will then find the pressure gauge. Once you have those, proceed inside again and open the locked door (it is a small room containing the skeleton). If you are too low a level, you can just run in, grab the rubber tube inside the room and run out, but if you think you can take the skeleton by all means go for it. Once you have the rubber tube, go to the top level, talk to the scientist again and he will change Ernest back. Talk to Ernest and you will complete the quest and get your reward (300 gold coins and 4 quest points).
