Substitutions for Runescape

A game to make up for the horrible things that Jagex has done to RuneScape.

Okay, I have been playing Runescape for a few years, and it's been okay up until recently, when Jagex has turned the game into a horribly unhappy world of nothingness! Now, I am almost always playing MMORPGs and I started searching for some game to play, since the wonderful game of Runescape has been taken away from us.

However, there are free-to-play MMOs, and there's pay-to-play MMOs.

I will be listing a few of the more decent ones for each, and their pro's and con's, as well as listing my rating based on a 1-10 scale, 1 being sucky, 10 being awesome.

Free To Play:

  • Adventure Quest
Yes, I know, it's a stupid game, but it kills a little time.
Pros; almost unlimited weapons and armor possibilities; a few different class upgrades; the ability to gain Guardian status for a more advanced game play.
Cons; not so great graphics; no way to move around freely; too time consuming at times.
My rating: 5 out of 10
  • Gunz the Duel
This game is pretty cool, it takes a lengthy time amount to download, but it's well worth it. Google it!
Pros: Great fun, many weapons to buy, easy to understand the basics.
Cons: Can be frustrating, hard to learn the moves, graphics are poor in some places
My rating: 7 out of 10
  • Guildwars
    This game is really nice!
Pros: Great Graphics, no monthly fee, extensive skill trees.
Cons: A level 20 cap is present.
My rating: 9 out of 10
  • Maplestory
Pretty okay game if you enjoy the anime games.
Pros: fun, easily addictive, pretty good graphics
Cons: takes forever to install/download, even on the fastest connections
My rating: 6 out of 10

Pay To Play:

  • World of Warcraft I played this game for a month and was immediately into it! I highly recommend it.
Pros: Awesome Graphics, Vast world, and expansions, with another on the way. Level 70 Cap with the expansions, 2000+ quests to complete.
Cons: $30 a month to play, massive grinding needed to level up, difficult to obtain money, not enough classes to choose.
My rating: 10 out of 10
  • Tabularasa A pretty nice looking Sci-Fi MMORPG. It is set in futuristic background.
Pros: Great world exploration, many ways to customize teams, a couple ways to adventure.
Cons: can become a nuisance getting things done, lags every now and then.
My rating: 8 out of 10
  • Halo 3 Okay, so it isn't a MMORPG, and it is only on 360, but come on people! It's HALO!
Pros: Everything about this game is awesome!
Cons: the last installment of it!
My rating: 10 out of 10

So, you can easily find a new “addiction” to completely consume your mentality, yet, there's only a few possibilities… So, please say you liked this, and comment on it, and suggest any other sites you would like to recommend!

Two more good ones are Planeshift and Silkroad online. They both have good storylines, quests, and graphics. They are also free (except in Silkroad they have a cash shop, and that costs money). Only 400,000 people play Planeshift, which is a shame because it is so awesome.

Not to mention Neverwinter Nights. A big, free to play one after you buy the game.
