Step-By-Step Guide to Starting Off in Runescape

Starting a file in Runescape is easy, but there are certain things you need to understand.

In Runescape, like many games, there are rules. In Runescape there are many rules you need to abide by, but some have harsher punishments then others. In Runescape if you break one of the rules in game, someone can report you and you can get black marks, or banned permanently. After 10 black marks you lose you account permanently.

Rules:

  1. Offensive Language: This rule is pretty straight forward, but for those of you who don't understand, all this means is do not swear, or say anything to offend someone.
  2. Item Scamming: Once again pretty straight forward. This rule means DO NOT make a trade with someone and quickly switch your item for something of less value, or do not tell someone to drop there most valuable item for example and press Alt+F4.
  3. Password Scamming: This is similar to Rule 2 but it is about passwords. Do not attempt to trick someone into giving you their password or recoveries.
  4. Cheating/Bug Abuse: This rule simply means do not abuse glitches in the game, such as if there is a way for you to make profit off a glitch DO NOT DO IT, it could result in permanent ban.
  5. Jagex staff impersonation: This means do not impersonate someone on Jagex staff. To tell if you are being sticked, Jagex will never ask for personal information, only contact by online message centre in game, and will have a gold crown beside their name in game.
  6. Account Sharing/Trading: This rule means do not share your account with anybody, not even family members, and do not attempt to sell the account.
  7. Using Third Party Software: This rule simply means do not use a program to have an advantage over others.
  8. Multiple Logging In: DON'T LOG IN ON THE SAME COMPUTER WITH 2 OR MORE FILES!
  9. Encouraging Others to Break Rules: Pretty straight forward, don't convince others to break rules or it could result in you being banned.
  10. False representations: Do not supply Jagex with personal information of someone else.
  11. Advertising Website: Do not advertise a website that is not related to Jagex.
  12. Real World Item Trading: Possibly the most strict rule in Runescape, do not buy something to gain profit in game with real money if it is not from Jagex.
  13. Personal Details: Do not tell anyone your personal details. I.E. Email address
  14. Misuse of Official Forums: Do not misuse the forums, respect them, don't spam.
  15. Advert Blocking: The final rule is you are not allowed to block advertisements in the free-to-play worlds.

Creating Your Character:

To create your character, go to Runescape.com and click on new user, from here you select your username, and password. Then you can begin. To begin, go to existing user, choose low or high detail, high detail is better graphics, but if on a slower computer use low detail, then load a free world (gray box/star). Once loaded log in. You begin in the tutorial, the first thing you do is choose the look of your character. Once you do this follow the flashing objects and listen to what the instructors have to say. Once you make it to the magic instructor, you have finished and may start on your adventure in Runescape!

Membership:

Runescape membership is in game. It is a part of the game where you pay real cash to play. In membership, you can do much more things then in free game. You unlock more quests, newer stats, and more mini games. There is also many more places to go in Runescape members. Although it is recommended that if you do not play much DO NOT get membership.

Keeping Your Account Safe:

To keep your account safe, there are a few things you must do. First go to the Runescape main page, and click the side button "Set new recoveries". These can be changed later on, but for now it is recommended to leave them as they are, unless someone knows them. These can be used to recover your account if stolen. If you get Runescape membership, it is recommended that you save the number they give you at registration, this can be used to recover the account later on if stolen. Other then that there is not much to know.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, I hope you have a great time playing Runescape, and if there is something you need to know feel free to ask me, or check out the on site knowledge base!
