In RuneScape, I could break the skills up to 2 sections. The first section is called 'skills which you can't raise by buying materials', and the second section is called 'skills which you can raise by buying materials'.
Skills you can't raise by buying materials
Skills:
- Attack
- Defence
- Strength
- Hitpoints
- Agility (Members)
- Fishing
- Hunter (Members)
- Mining
- Slayer (Members)
- Thieving (Members)
- Woodcutting
These are the skills that you have to raise using large amount of time, you could not buy anything which will improve your training time. These are the skills recommended to get to lv99 first.
Skills you can raise by buying materials
Skills:
- Construction (Members)
- Cooking
- Crafting
- Farming (Members)
- Firemaking
- Fletching (Members)
- Herblore (Members)
- Magic
- Prayer
- Ranging
- Runecrafting
- Smithing
These are the skills which you can buy materials to make training faster. Unless you are rich, if not you are not recommended to up these skills to lv99.
Skillcapes (Members Only)
Raising skills to lv99 requires a lot of persistence, effort and hard work. JaGex have released skill capes which I believed it is for motivating people to go up to lv99 in a skill or more. Members will be entitled a skillcape when they reach level 99 in a skill or more.
If your fletching got up to 99. You will get a Fletching cape, but if you got another skill to lv99, you will get Trimmed skill capes which has the almost the same stat as a normal skill cape but has prayer bonus which could be an advantage in training or Player-Killing.
