The new achievement diary finally came out! It was shown to the RuneScape community on July 15, 2008. This was quite new to “F2P/Free to play” players. To some players it resembled questing, but to me it resembled simple tasks that mostly involved a lot of time and effort put into it. I thought it was worth it if you do not have membership because having the Explorer's Ring (3) was really helpful. So this is basically my opinion and what you need to complete it. Make note of it before hand and you'll finish it really quickly. Note that I didn't write what to do and where to go because the achievement diary is pretty straight forward and it's pretty chronological so yeah.
You will need the following:
Beginner
You will need the following:
- A pickaxe (any kind will do)
- 10 gold coins/gp
- And you must have finished “The Restless Ghost”
Reward: Explorer's Ring (1). It allows you to recharge your run to 50% once per day.
Easy
- a minimum of 15 mining level or higher
- a minimum of 25 fishing level or higher
- 1 iron and 2 coal ore plus a minimum of 30 smithing level or higher
- Be able to kill a giant rat (level 3)
- Any axe and a tinderbox
- a water talisman
- you must have finished the “Rune mysteries” quest
- Be able to kill a level 13 zombie
- Always good to have some money
Reward: Upgrade your ring to Explorer's Ring (2). It gives you another run recharge and gives you 30 low alchemy spells per day.
Medium
- have a 35 smithing level + a dwarf stout or a 36 smithing level
- a minimum of 31 magic level + a 3 airs, 1 law, and 1 earth rune
- a minimum of 30 mining level
- a minimum of 30 wood cutting level
- a minimum of 30 fire making level
- a minimum of 40 cooking level
- you must have began or finished “Dragon Slayer”
- have a crafting level of 16 or higher
- some money
Reward: Upgrades your ring to the last Explorer's Ring (3). This allows you to teleport to a cabbage patch an infinite amount of times close to Draynor village and Port Sarim.
So basically that's all you have to get before hand if you want to finish it all in one go. It personally took me a day or so, with breaks in between (long ones). The ring is probably the best item you can get for F2P since it allows you to teleport to Draynor and Port Sarim for free and an infinite amount of times. This is extremely useful if you decide to fish lobsters, tuna, and/or swordfish, being that you have 1 more inventory space and you don't have to pay an extra 30 gp. Not only that it saves you a lot of clicking and about 20 seconds of banking and returning time. So if you have the stats needed I highly recommend you get it.
