RuneScape, the Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, which online games can play for a free or even cheap price. You get to kill monsters, train skills somewhat necessary in medieval/fantasy times, complete quests, play minigames, and chat with other players. RuneScape used to be one of my most played games on the net, until they started the big updates and I found out about MoparScape, or “RuneScape Custom Servers”.
In my opinion, the updates that took place this year (2007/2008) disappointed me to the point that I got tired and frustrated at the game. The updates such as the 3k trading limit are what frustrated me. That meant there could be no free giveaways of any sort, so your friends couldn't receive free gifts from you. You also can't drop trade to different account, which stinks. This makes it inconvenient to transfer items to other accounts of yours or have drop parties, which made RuneScape slightly more fun. There was also the no pking rule in the wild, and they added a Bounty Hunter minigame instead. That would have been cool if they didn't take away the pking in the wild thing. Now do you see what I mean??? Do you see what RuneScape has become??? A worthless game! To me at least.
At least there are custom servers. Custom servers are places where it's like RuneScape, but it isn't. You can level up way faster, get items more easily, etc. I think there are better than RuneScape, for a cheap, short, gaming experience. Plus, there's no signup required! Just enter a username and a password, type in the server info, and you're set! If you want to save your spot, you must use the same server and login info, or you can just start over. Some custom server websites are Moparscape.org, and Frugooscape.net. The problem is that, sometimes people are invisible, or you can't see items or yourself, etc. So I recommend you use a client. No download required! To use it, go to Silab Client and your experience will be upgraded.
The only downside is that there are sometimes server “crashes”. They usually aren't crashes; sometimes the server might be shutdown for a while, and it will take a bit to log back in. You can also only go to places your server allows you to. And all the shops are in one place, but they sell really cool things. Even then, they are still better that RuneScape, even though they are cheap. My personal favorite server is Hiyascape, which the ip is: battle.no-ip.biz.
