Runescape: The Ultimate Waste of Time

Ever come home from school and jump on to Runescape and play for hours on end? Ever just stay at home all week-end and play Runescape? Well then you have succeeded at "Ultimately Wasting Your Time".

Over the years, Runescape has developed.  Each year it obtains new and better graphics, monsters, items and quests.  Gradually, Runescape draws in more and more players every month.  I'll admit, Runescape is addicting, but if you are in that stage right now, pull out immediately.  Runescape isn't helping you at all.  Especially for the people who waste their parents money on Member's accounts.  Here's why:

  1. I'm almost 100% positive that if tests were made, it would be expertly proven that student's grades lower when they join Runescape.  School and grades help you later on in life.  I don't think you're gonna be logging on when you're 30 years old and have a wife and children.  Life comes at you fast, and before you know it, all those years spent on Runescape will be a waste of time.
  2. Okay, so say you're a low level.  No matter how much time you put into your character, he is still low.  You don't want to waste your time on clicking on monsters all day, so you decide to scam people.  When the scamming doesn't work, you turn to the worst decision of all, stealing your parent's money.  I have seen all over the internet websites that consist of buying Runescape items, gold and accounts.  I, at one point in my life, turned to this situation.  I stole my parents credit card and bought over 50$ worth of runescape gold.  Of course, people admired me on Runescape, but what did my parents think when they got the bill?  They were disappointed in me, and as word spread, I was ridiculled by my friends at school.  Is that the person who you want to be?  You may be telling yourself, " That will never be me...".  But are you sure Runescape isn't slowly brainwashing your mind, sucking you into it's fake world of monsters and trade?
  3. Just stop for a second.  Think about where Runescape will get you in life.  Will it get you into the right career you want?  Will it get you the big fancy house you want?  Will it get you that sport car you've always dreamed of?  I don't think so.  But if reading this article has had no effect on you whatsoever, go ahead and keep on playing runescape.  Sure, you will have fun for the next couple of years, wasting your parents money as you click on the red cartoon dragon on screen.  And sure, you will have fun trading people and negotiating prices.  But when you get to a point in your life where you stop Runescape, you will look back and wish you had listened to this article.

Runescape is the Ultimate Waste of Time.  And that goes for all the other online-paying RPG games.  Stop now before the addiction spreads.  This is not how you want to spend your time.  Go outside. Get some friends.  Get a girl.  Get a job.  Get a life.

I think it depends on the way you play it. Of course it is a waste of time if you play rs as you describe it, but many people (including myself) can play it for 1 or 2 hours a day, taking breaks and so on. I can spend weeks without playing rs wihtout problems. I may sound a bit rude, but not everybody is as weak as you. RS is just a game and getting obsessed with it is as bad as getting obsessed with any game. But playing it on a healthy way is as good as playing any other game on a healthy manner. Games are not a waste of time by themselves: we MAKE THEM a waste.

Chill man. Runescape's really got you hooked. You sound a little, defensive of your life-, I mean Runescape. And what you said about the "sex", how old are you? It is in no way even close to what i'm saying. So don't comment on this if you're a 10 year old, who can't spell, and you are already addicted. Thanks.

#5 by RuneScape is a game. So get over it., Sep 20, 2008
As Esteban said, it depends on how you look at it. I play about 1-2 hours per day, sometimes not at all. And how do you think I've turned out? A+ in every subject except history. It sounds like your the person whos addicted. Also, "I don't think you're gonna be logging on when you're 30 years old and have a wife and children." My friends dad plays and hes 34, and he has a wife and 3 children. So, honestly kid, GET A LIFE.

i use adiction stoping programs to stop its addiction too.
and i earn my own money like u in triond and be a mem once or twice a year...

some people can play for an hour a day, and my parents just give me the money

This kid has a point. He is not over the top on any of this stuff. I was addicted too. I don't think he was saying everyone will get addicted. I think he is trying to make people aware of what could happen. Are you telling him to get a life, when your friends dad plays at age 34? DUDE. TELL YOUR FRIENDS DAD to GET A LIFE. This kid has a point. 1 -2 hours a day is too much anyways. At the most that 14 hours a week. 14 hours that could have been spent on something more productive. I agree with you Kris, great article. Open up the losers eyes. Thank you.

This article is trueeee. But not everyone would steal their parents money and stuff. But good article. :)

i have been playing runescape for a while, and i dont agree with your statements at all. i have the concience not to steal from my parents, the self control to know when to stop, i have enough of a life to not spend my time on runescape, i have never been a member, never bought gp, and i'm a level 50 with 90k in the bank. if you dont beleive me, message me on runescape, and note how often im on (less than once every week.)

under the circumstances you stated, thats addiction, but i think you've offended everyone on runescape who has a life.

ps i do perfectly fine in school.

pps i think runescape is actually a good way to apply problem solving, the principles of wall street, and goal setting, in a harmless enviroment

I play Runescape, I get good grades, I have never been a member or steal from my parents, and I don't play a lot. I agree with crazjtk2.

P.S. I'm pretty sure Runescape is not "slowing brainwashing my mind".

Nowadays im getting tired of ppl calling runescape a "waste of time" just cuz they wasted their lives on it. It's ur fault u stole ur parent's credit card, ur fault that u played it too often, and also ur fault that ur grades lowered after u joined runescape(i believe this is the case as u mentioned it)

in the end it's all down to the parents mostly, the parents should never let children get addicted to a game, think about it, if a child is allowed to play whenever he/she wants then he/she will definitely get addicted (especially if its an online game)
