My friend has 99 smithing. This guide will help you achieve this. Smithing is a skill which is not easy to make to 99. He made his smithing 99 in f2p. He took 5 months to make it 99 from 1. Al Kharid is the best place to smelt ores into bars and the anvil opposite to the big bank or Varrok is the best anvil. It is not so difficult for members to make smithing 99 as they can make crossbow bolts, etc which are profitable. They have the Ring of Forging by which they can make 100% of the iron bars. To make his smithing 99, he did the following things:-
- Lvl 1 to 29- do the Knights Sword quest.
- Lvl 29 to 30-make iron bars.
Lvl 30 to 50-hammer these iron bars into iron full sets(if you are 33+) and sell them in grand exchange or buy or mine iron ores and coal and make them into steel bars and sell them. This gives you a profit of about 100 gp per bar. My friend make 5k steel bars and calculated his profits. He spent these to buy iron bars and hammered them into iron full sets. Hammering these iron bars is a loss but very fast xp. You get 25 xp per iron bar you hammer. It is better than hammering steel bars as steel bars are too expensive. Members can make cannonballs out of these steel bars out of which they get a profit.
Then till 70 smithing keep doing this. Make mithril bars sometimes, steel sometimes. I know it is boring.
Lvl 70-85 make addy items and high alch them if you are 55 mage+ or sell them in the grand exchange. You can even buy ores for addy bars and superheat them into bars. This is good mage+smithing xp. It is best ot mine the addy ores yourself if you can.
Now you are almost at your destination of 99. From 85 smithing, you can make rune bars, and other rune items as your level increases. You can also assist people to make things.
