Welcome to the Woodcutting Guide. Here you will find out how you can use woodcutting to make money, and more! First of all, we all know that woodcutting is pretty much just taking an axe, and using it to chop wood, but what can that really do? First, you can use woodcutting to make money, for example, you can cut willows and sell for 30 coins each, or you can cut yews, which are much slower, but make you 250 - 400 coins each. So which one would you prefer, the willows or the yews? Willows cut faster, however they give less money, and yews cut slower but give more money.
If you ask me, then I would suggest cutting the willows. Yes, I know, it takes around 10 willows to make up for a yew, but that's fine. With a Rune axe, you should be able to woodcut willows fine. Even with a Rune axe, willows are still kind of slow to cut. And even I asked a guy with level 82 woodcutting if it was fast to cut yews. And guess what he said? Yews are still slow even at level 82, and I'm at level 74 woodcutting on my main and it's still slow. But if you were higher level woodcutting and you had a Dragon axe, then you could cut yews. For Magic logs, those are still slow even when you got level 99 woodcutting, so I would suggest that you either do yews at that point.
- For levels 1 - 15, cut regulars.
- For levels 15 - 20, cut either regulars or oaks (oaks if you got an axe better than steel, like a Mithril one).
- For levels 20 - 30, cut oaks and get a Mithril or Adamant axe.
- For levels 30 - 60, cut willows. Also be sure to get an Adamant axe by sometime in level 30, and a Rune axe sometime in level 40. I would suggest getting one of these axes as soon as possible, like I got Rune axe at level 41 woodcutting.
- For levels 60 - 80, cut willows or yews. I recommend willows though, since it's faster and yews are still slow during these levels, trust me.
- For Levels 80+, cut willows, yews, or Magics.
Willows are always a good choice for levels 30 +, and now you're probably already fast enough for yews. If you want a bit more money though, then go cut Magics, but they're still slow. Try getting a Dragon axe before you start woodcutting Magics though, or you will be spending like 10 minutes cutting only a few Magic Logs. I had woodcutting pure accounts, 2 exactly. On one I had an Adamant axe and a little bit more than 30 woodcutting, and on the other I have over 40 woodcutting and already a Rune axe. And yes, woodcutting is one of the best ways to get money, so don't just give up and skip the skill. Give it a try until level 40, and you will know how good it really is. Unlike mining, you can cut several logs from a tree (except Regulars) before you're left with a stump and it has to grow back again.
Oh, and be sure to pay at least some attention when you're woodcutting. I know it gets boring sometimes, but if you're not careful, you could lose your axe head or break your axe by chopping a moving tree. Just click on a tree, then if your axe head doesn?¡¥t fall off, go do some other stuff, but check back to Runescape every 20 seconds either to see if the tree is moving or if the tree is already gone and you have to start chopping another tree. Ok, now time for the next step. You can use woodcutting also for fire making. You can cut logs, and then use a tinderbox to burn them all. This raises your fire making level, check the fire making guide for more information on fire making. If you're a member, you can fletch your arrows and get even more money from them, not to mention that you could also get some fletching experience, as well.
Anyway, I hope that explains how you could use the woodcutting skill. Enjoy!
