Runescape Security Guide

Five tips to be safe and unscammed in RuneScape.

OK so you just got your dragon mask and that 600K right? Then, all of a sudden, after you download a so called “auto-trainer” and you cant log in. Well, I can explain why. Either that “auto-trainer” had a key logger, a file that keeps track of EVERYTHING you type, or you just plain got scammed. In this guide, I will show you how to not get scammed and keep your rainbow party hat (there's no such thing).

  1. Get Anti-Virus

Anti-viruses are one of the best ways of getting rid of spyware and viruses. Not having an anti-virus is like not having a brain or heart. Once a Trojan or worm gets into your computer, it will either slowly destroy your computer, or massacre it in one fatal blow. Having an anti-virus can stop this and even make your computer go faster. Some good anti-viruses are BitDefender and Norton. Of course, they cost A LOT so maybe you would like a free one such as AVG Anti Virus. You can find it in cnet.com or you can google it. Scan every week or so with your anti virus.
  2. Scam or No Scam?

Runescape is known for scammers and fakes. Here are some common scams : Ill trim your armor now give it to me, Follow me to the wilderness for a cool party, and Say your passsword Jagex blocks it see ********! For the armor, trimmed armor can only be received from certain places, the wilderness wouldn't have parties and they will only pk you in there, and Jagex DOES NOT block your password so when you say it they will know your password. Never trade in really unfair deals (500K for a Gold Necklace) because they will usually have something up their sleeves.
  3. Changing Your Password

Changing your password can do wonders. Did you know that Zezima, the best player used to change his password every day? It is recommended that once you get a valuable item or over 20K - 50K then you should change your password every 3 or 4 months and once you get a membership you should change it and then change it every 1 or 2 months. This should keep people from guessing your password.
  4. Security Question

Your security questions are gateways to your password and username. Never give out your security questions and make sure you set them up as soon as possible to get them out of the way as soon as possible. You don't need to change your security question often or at all if they're good or hard to guess. Your security question should be hard to guess, for example if it is “What is your Favorite Food” you should put “Lol I like tacos yay” or something like that. Never tell your friends info about your secret questions.
  5. Use Your Common Sense

Use your common sense! This is very important as if something that is not on this list happens and you feel something fishy about it, be careful. Never give away your personal information and I recommend you go through the fortress of security, it gives rewards for you being careful. Follow this guide and you should be safer than ever! Or at least a little.

i have applied all of this before and my account still gets hacked regularly, but i feel more sad for the hackers as they are so lazy as to not even make their own account(s).
