Other Common Scams in Runescape

Common scams in Runescape and how not to get sucked in.

There are always people trying to take advantage of less fortunate people. These people are considered scammers. You will not get scammed if you don't talk to these sly people, but you don't always know whom these sneaky people are.

In this guide I will show the top scams that those devious people use to take your precious items:

Coal Scam:

The scammer will say: selling fifty (or a high number) coal and the price will be pretty cheap. The buyer will be in a hurry to get the trade finished since they “think” they're getting a great deal. After they put the coal up in the trading window and the buyer puts up their money and accepts, the scammer will then trade out the coal for iron ore and the buyer never sees any difference between the two (they look exactly the same) the only thing the buyer sees is that they didn't accept (or re-accept) the trade. They won't even look at the second trade window because they are trying to rush it.

Then the trade is finished, the scammer has the money and the coal and the poor buyer will be scammed out of their money. This scam is also done with iron long sword and rune long sword.

Gold Trimming Scam:

The scammer would say something like: Free gold trimming on all armor. The newbie (in this case) will instantly want to trade with the scammer. The newbie will trade all his armor to the scammer and the scammer will log out with the newbies stuff. You can't trim items. You can get trimmed items in member worlds though.

The "Impatience" Scam:

The scammer will usually go to a bank and watch for people in the bank selling cool (and expensive items). The scammer will then “try” to trade with that person the scammer will put up tons of money and then decline in second screen and then asks a couple of dumb questions and then trade again the same way. After the scammer does this a couple of times the seller will be getting impatient but won't leave because the seller wants the tons of money so any time the trade goes on the seller will just keep hitting accept thinking the scammer will hurry. The scammer notices and puts up like 1k, it looks like a lot and the seller will just keep hitting accept and then the scammer will have a good item for only 1k.

The 2 Person Scam:

Person (or scammer in this case) “A” will be selling a hard to get but cheap item lets say charcoal. Scammer A will say something like: selling charcoal only 50k. And scammer “B” will be saying something like: Buying charcoal 100k. And regular people will think, “Wow I could buy that charcoal for 50k and sell for 100k and make 50k profit.” They would then spend the 50k with Scammer “A” and then both Scammer “A” and “B” would log out and split the profit.
