There are many scams out there in Runescape, and I hope that with this advice you won't fall victim to one of them. The following contains a list of different scams and some tips on how to avoid them.
- Armor Trimming Scam: a player will be saying that he will trim your armor for free. However players in Runescape can't trim armor.
- Fake Duplicating Scam: a few players will be teaming up on this one. One of them will say that they can duplicate your items. His friend will pretend to talk to him and pretend to give him the armor. All along he has two pairs of the same armor so in order to make it look like a duplication. Players in Runescape can't duplicate items so don't fall for it!
- Fake Duplicating 2 Scam: a player will tell you that if you put an item on the ground and press alt F4 at the same time it will duplicate your items. If you do this it will close the window that you have Runescape running on.
- Overpricing Scam: in this scam there are two players teaming up. The easiest way for me to explain this scam is by an example. For example, one of the players would say that he is selling a rune plate for 80k (keep in mind that a rune plate is only worth 50k). While the first player is trying to sell it, his partner will be saying that he is buying a rune plate for 120k but never buys it from the one that's selling for 80k. Then along comes this noob who thinks that if he buys the rune plate for 80k and then sells it for 120k he will make a 40k profit. So he buys it and tries to sell it for 120k but the person who was allegedly buying it decides he doesn't want it anymore. So the poor noob ends up losing 30k in the whole process. If you see anyone doing this you probably shouldn't buy it because there is a very high probability that you are getting scammed.
