One way to make money in free world is wood cutting. The best log that you can cut is yew logs in free world. Once you get to 60 wood cutting you should cut 100+ yews before selling. Once you have enough go to a popular world like world 1. Once your there look for someone buying, if you don't see anyone buying them start to sell them. One of the best spots to sell them is in Varrock west bank. Make the sentence short so you can type it fast so people will be able to see it. Keep doing this and you will have money in no time.
Another way is mining/smithing, once you start these skills you don't make much money, but if you get it high enough you will be able to have allot of money. These skills may be hard because they take a while to get your level up. But if you manage to get it high enough, make armor and find people that are buying. Again Varrock is probably the best spot to sell it.
You can also do crafting to make money. One way to make money from crafting is cutting gems for money. Go to the desert bank and buy uncut gems for cheap prices. After you do this cut them and sell them to the gem stall guy or just try to sell it to people. You don't make to much doing this but you don't need a high level skill to do this.
Fishing is another way to. If you have a good level of fishing and cooking you can make a bit of money. This takes a while because the fishing areas. After you get high enough to fish lobsters or sword fishes, you can sell them for good money.
Another way to get money is combat. You can kill certain monsters for certain items to sell. The higher level you kill the better items you get, but first get your combat level high enough not to die from them. Some ways to make money at low levels are cows, you can collect there cow hides and sell them for 100 gold each, this isn't allot but it will get you started. For higher levels theres monsters like lesser demons, they can drop rune medium helms which are worth 10,000-20,000 gold each. This skill isn't suggested for free members but it is one way.
The last way to make money is to merchant, this means to buy at low prices and sell them for high. For this you don't have to have any skills to use. But you don't go over for once your buying or selling. You should start off with a good amount and try to buy good items so more people would want them.

One way to make money is mining pure ess. This requires level 30 mining, this doesn't really take to long to mine allot but once you do, you should sell them for around 80-100 gold each. Most people will buy them at Varrock east bank. Most of the time theres allot of people wanting these so it shouldn't take to long to find someone to sell to.
Another way is to pick flax. You can spin them into bow strings to make a little more money but you don't have to. These usually sell for 100 gold each and the strings sell for 150-180 gold each. This is a fast skill and doesn't take that long to make money.
You can also cut magic trees to make money. This requires 75 wood cutting.(That might take a while) Once you have a good amount you can sell them for 1,000 gold each, its recommended to go to a populated world for this.
Fishing is another way to get money but you need a higher level. If you have level 75 fishing you can fish sharks. You can go to banks and sell these for 1,000 each and allot of people want these. You should go to banks by wilderness like Varrock, and Edgeville.
Combat is one way to make some money but you need to be a high level to do this. The reason you need to be a high level is because the higher level you can kill the more money you can make. For example if you can kill black dragons you can make money off the items they drop.
You can make money by runecrafting. If you have a high enough level you can make runes that everyone wants. You can make runes by mining rune ess. After you have a good amount you can sell them. Some banks that are recommended are ones by rune stores.
