When you start of at the training island, you have to do different tasks which you will face in Runescape. When you are mining or doing anything keep doing it till your level is at 3. This will help you for when you get on the mainland.
When you do get on the mainland you will start of in Lumbridge, in front of the castle. Go east until you get to a river, then go over the bridge and go north. On the way you shall go past cows. When you keep going north, the path you are on shall go into 2 directions (left and right), take the left path. This will all be on your world map just to let you know. When you go up this path on your mini map on the top right there shall be a round stone circle that looks like Stonehenge, try and avoid this as much as possible and stay on the other side of the path as the wizards inside of it will attack you if you go near it.
When you go past this however, you will find yourself in Varrock, (you shall know this as there is a wall going around it and there are guards at the entrance). Keep going north until you reach a big water fountain and go right. Keep going till you reach the bank on one side, go into the building which is on the other side of the path. Go onto how you attack and click on one of the attacks which gets your strength xp up. Attack the dummies in the room until you can learn nothing more from hitting a dummy (your strength should be about 8 or 9).
Now leave the room and go west until you reach barbarian village. Go north a little bit until you reach a building where the door is locked. If you look inside the classroom there should be a schoolroom with kids doing work. On the other side of the building from the door climb down the hole and talk to the person down there. He will tell you to read the plaques of the cages if you want to go to the training centre. Do it. Talk to him again and go up the stairs. Talk to the teacher and get the test do it, and give it back to him.
When you get 2 lamps rub them and you will be able to get 500 xp on any 2 skills you want. Go back down the stairs and go into the broken jail, pull back the poster.
follow this map until you reach the treasure chest. You have got 10k and a pair of really cool gloves. Just to let you know the animals down there don’t attack you for nothing.
