Getting 99 rune crafting is extremely hard when you are F2P, but there is a method to getting 99 rune crafting without being a member. This guide will take you from 1-99 in rune crafting.
Be warned, this is an extremly slow process. I know this is not the quickest way (crafting tiaras is) but this is the cheapest way.
EDIT: This guide was writen before skillcapes, before grand exchange, before the trade limit, before the wildy was ruined. So you can no longer use this method, i may get around to changing this guide some time in the future (the new fastest way to train Runecrafting in F2p is in world 16 assisting people, requires at least 77 runecrafting to do well) but i really cant be bothered with that at the moment
Rune Mysteries Quest:
To start rune crafting you must first finish the “rune mysteries” quest. This guide will briefly explain how to do the quest, if you have finished the quest go straight down to “1-44”.
- To start the “rune mysteries” quest talk to “duke horacio” and ask him for a quest, he will give you an air talisman and ask you to take it to the head wizard at the wizards castle.
- The wizards castle is found southwest of lumbridge, go there and speak to wizard sedridor in the basement. Although he is not the “head wizard” give him the air talisman and he will give you a package and tell you to take it to Aubury.
- Aubury is found at the rune shop south of the east varrok bank (check the map if your not sure). Give the package to Aubury and he will tell you to talk to him later. Speak to him immediately after and he will give you some notes.
- Take the notes that Aubury gave you and give them to wizard sedridor in the wizard castle and then you have finished the quest!
- After finishing the quest you will get one Quest point, access to the rune essence mines and an air talisman.
1-44
- Once you have finished the rune mysteries Quest go to varrok east bank and withdraw a pickax, go to Auburys rune shop, right click on Aubury and click teleport, you will be taken to the rune essence mines.
- Mine a full inventory of essence and click on the portal, this will take you back to the rune shop, go and bank your essence and repeat many times until you have 11,130 rune essence (I know its a lot but I warned you it would take a long time). Alternatively you can buy the essence for 25-40gp each.
- Now go to faldor bank and withdraw ether your air talisman (or an air tiara if you have one) and as many rune essence as you can hold, travel south from the faldor east bank to the air alter (go to world 16 “air rune central” because there will be lots of other people going there too so you cant get lost).
- Enter the air alter and click on the middle thing to craft you essence into air runes, go back to the bank and get more essence to do it again.
- After crafting all of your 11,130 rune essence you should have 39,479 air runes and you will be 44 rune crafting.
The reason you have more air runes than essence is because at level 11 rune crafting you start making 2 runes per essence, at level 22 you start making 3 per essence, you make 1 more air rune per essence every 11 levels.
44-99
Now for the biggest part of you mission to 99 rune crafting.
- For this part, buy a lot of essence (I mean A LOT!) but for every 25 essence you have you must have 2k cash, so if you have 1000 essence you need 80k.
- Now go into the air alter (must be world 16), take your money and essence.
- Stand in the alter saying “open 2k”, you should get lots of offers, when you trade them they will offer up 25 un-noted essence and you offer up 25 noted essence + 2k cash, accept the offer and craft the un-noted essence into runes, you will get 125 air runes if you have 44 rune crafting.
- From level 44-55 you will lose 10gp per essence after you sell the airs you make for 20gp each, but after that its all profit!
- Keep doing this over and over and over… You need to craft 2,595,757 essence into air runes.
Yep its a lot but this is the quickest non-members way because you are getting exp all the time instead of having to walk between the bank and the alter, there are no other non-member runes that you can do this with so that is why air runes are the fastest to get 99!
NOTES:
- Try following people to save clicking while going between bank and alter (most people in world 16 are crafting air runes).
- If your not interested in rune crafting, why not be a runner, you get 2k per run and don't even lose any essence!
- Members can do a similar thing with laws but instead of money + ess back you give laws + ess back, you lose the money you paid for the ess but you get exp.
- Try and get people lined up to buy air runes and sell essence because I doubt you will get over 2 mill essence in one go!
