Runescape Guide to F2P Range Training

Shows all the places and tips to range training.

For this guide to work, you must have at least 10k for arrows (obviously) and range equipment. I know this is an obvious statement but some beginner players are oblivious to this.

Equipment Needed:

  • Food
  • 100 bronze arrows
  • 1 of each sort of bow
  • 100 iron arrows
  • Any range armor (optional but gives range boost during training) such as: Leather/Studded/Dragon chaps, Coif/Cowl, Leather/Studded/Dragon Body, Leather/Dragon Vambraces.

Lvl 1-10

At this time use the normal bow and the 100 bronze arrows. Train on any chicken farm (like the one northeast of Lumby). Chickens are the quickest. Train to lvl 10. Yes, its that simple.

Notes:

  • Change to oak bow at lvl 5.
  • Feathers sell for 5-10gp ea.

Lvl 10-30

Now, use your oak bow. You have some choices to choose from.

Minotaurs: These things are great to train on. They can be found on the first level of the Security Stronghold. They give out iron arrows so if you're low on money this is the way to go. Low defense is also another plus. Also, there is a fence just for ranger pures. Some down sides include it being multi-combat area. This allows other people to also train on your monsters, stealing your exp.

Monks: These things are great but respawn quite slow. Also, it is usually crowded. They can found next to Ice Mountain. No need for food since you can ask them to heal you.

Barbarians: Good experience and there are tables to shoot across. Also crowded.

Notes:

  • Switch to willow bow at lvl 20 range.
  • Maple Bow at 30.

Lvl 30-55

Hobgoblins: Great place to train but unfortunately you don't get your arrows back, unless you use telekinetic grab. This shouldn't provide much of a problem if you trained on minotaurs earlier. Located on a peninsula. Shoot from the cow field inside the Crafting Guild.

Hill Giants: Great. Good drops and lots of places to range from. Crowded though and a pain when you have to right click attack.

Lesser Demon; There is a lesser demon inside the wizard tower. Not very good since of low range lvl. Not advised. But great drops!

Notes:

  • Use Rapid (duh).
  • Will be slow exp at first.

Lvl 55+

Just train on lesser demons in the wizard tower. Or hobgoblins more. Or the greater demons in wildy. You can be killed but no problem if your combat level is high or you have a telly and under lvl 20 wildy.

Happy Training and Pwning with high range!

i did a few of those things but i dont reccomend ever!!! training in the wildy for greater demons you will die almost immediately if u are not careful for pkers,ur health, or if u run out of arrows there is no where to go close to restock.

If you think on the bright side you will be able to manage this quite easy, but there is one problem with the Wilderness part, Greater Demons are Very hard ot hit at, this will, infact, make you waste arrows. If you do like me, so in the security dungeon and fight from each level you will get levels ALL time.
Good Luck All.

Jorge, u should be more descriptive about wat type of bow, not just saying "bow", ex shortbow/longbow (shortbow in case ur wondering) and the lesser demon at the wizard's tower is bs for trainers y not train at the lesser demons at karamja instead 20x faster training there compared to the wizzy tower and greaters in wildy =P

not bad...
some very good ideas here, minotaurs are great.
greaters... lesser in wizzy tower... not very great... actually horrible infact, you would be better off on hill giants, rofl.
i would suggest the lessers in karamja, like repus, as they are good xp at higher levels and there are "range spots", not to mention a good drop (rune med helm)

this is just my oppinion...
