Always wanted an account that can AFK? Well, making one is quite simple. Ever been to the monastery and seen an account over level 20 that was fighting a monk forever? Those are defense pures. They are accounts with no stat besides defense (and hits). With 1 strength, defense pures cannot hit higher than 1. Since the monk would keep healing itself, it would never die, allowing the defense pure to gain a large number of defense experience.
Why defense pure?
Defense pures are the only accounts on free RuneScape that can successfully AFK. Fishing causes you to log, and creatures eventually lose aggressiveness. While on your defense pure you can do homework, watch people at the monastery become annoyed at you, talk to your friends, and even go on another account (if your computer is fast enough). Defense pures are one of the most useful accounts to make.
How is one made?
Making one is quite simple. After completely the tutorial, equip your defense pure with armor and send him to the monastery. At this point, the account cannot successfully AFK, as the monk would kill it. Once your account gets to around 15 defense, equip it with only three items, preferably chain mail, plate legs, and a weapon. This is because while your AFKing, a random event might occur and kill your account. If you're not afraid to lose some armor, then using more than three items is fine. After taking all of this into account, you can now successfully make a defense pure!
On a side note, if you are impatient and want your defense pure to gain levels quicker, you can also raise its attack. Mith scimmy is the highest weapon you should go to, since addy hits 2's. I have not tried raising attack above 20, as monks may be killed.
