Let's say you completed all the crafting quests and just about had enough of pottery. Then what should you do to improve your crafting levels? This article tells you more ways of gaining crafting levels.
First let's talk about making leather armor. Leather armor actually gives you more levels and money than pottery. To make leather, you need to kill cows and pick up the cowhide after they die. After you get lots of cowhides, you take them to a tanner. On the mini map it looks like a brown t-shirt. There's one in Al Kharid. They will tan each of the cowhides into leather for a price (of course) One coin per soft leather and three coins per hard leather. (You can only work with hard leather once your crafting level reaches 28.) It will ask you how many soft/hard leather you want to make. Go to a crafting shop and buy a needle and some thread. The thread can't last forever, so you will need to get more, as you need them. Then use the needle on a leather piece. It will ask you what you want to make. Right click on the object to make more than one of it.
If you are doing this to improve your crafting levels, keep on making leather chaps. It gives you the most experience. Then one by one each of the leather pieces will turn into leather armour. You should sell everything to get some money back. Keep doing this until you get bored of it or you reached the level you wanted. At level 20 you can cut sapphires and make sapphire necklaces (I was so happy when I reached level 20!!) The only problem was I didn't know how to cut sapphires. What should I use? So I asked around and luckily someone told me to use a chisel. I cut the sapphire I had in my bank. Then I decided to ask if someone else needed their sapphires cut. I kept on saying “cutting sapphires free” When I saw the words in purple “… wishes to trade with you”, I was so happy. She gave me four uncut sapphires. I happily cut them all.
After giving the last sapphire back, I continued to say “cutting sapphires free” It was boring but it was worth it. Then she came back to me. She wanted to trade. I couldn't believe it she gave me a mithril dagger and mithril plate legs. The next day I said “cutting sapphires free” so long that a guy popped up and teleported me to this exercise place. Then I continued working on leather making. To make sapphires or any kind of necklace you simply bring the necklace mould, a gold bar and the gem. When asked choose to make sapphire necklaces or any other necklace. I hope you enjoy leather making, cutting gems and making jewelery. Remember crafting is an important skill and is one of my favorite skills in Runescape.
