In RuneScape, you have combat. You also have quests, another fun thing that you can always do. In this guide, I will be telling you about combat and quests, and how you can do those things, and have fun with it! =)
Combat
First, let's start out with combat. What is combat? It is fighting monsters, whether it's in dungeons, outside in the town, or possibly even in a scary haunted house! But whatever it is, you are always hitting something. Now, combat plays a major role in RuneScape, as you may have noticed. The higher your combat level, the stronger you are, and the lower your combat level, the more you will be called a noob. Now, I'm not trying to say that if you're level 70, you will still be called a noob, or maybe you will, by a level 120. What I'm trying to say, is that players usually determine how long another player has played RuneScape for, by his combat level. Plus, you will see that when you advance levels, you will be treated in different ways.
For example, you see noobs begging for money and free stuff, but do you see high levels players doing that? Well of course not, because they have learned much of the game, and they are now able to make their own money, and train their own skills by themselves. However, noobs don't know how to do that yet. They must progress though the game, and learn all these things. Only then, will they learn to lose their habit of begging, and go on to doing things by themselves, and actually getting their own hard earned money.
Quests
In my opinion, quests are a lot of fun, even if they are the really hard ones, that will take you very long to beat. Many people don't notice this either, but RuneScape is basically a click and watch game. You click on something to do that, and you watch your character perform the action. For example, you click on a monster, and you watch your character kill that monster, pretty generic, don't you think?
Now, if RuneScape wasn't Java based, and it didn't have that nice interface, smooth graphics, almost no lag, and that huge community, it would be nothing right now, compared to those MMORPG's. In fact, then even Daimonin would have been better than RuneScape, as well. But all that nice stuff separated from the click and watch pattern still can't entertain people. However, what can, are quests.
Rather than the boring repeated click and watch pattern, quests are much more fun, mostly because of their role playing in the game. I mean, you can't just click on things to finish a quest now, can you? You have to walk to places, talk to people, choose the messages to say to them, and even do some really weird things. Some quests even require strategy to beat, making quests one of the best things in RuneScape.
Now, I will talk about why nonmembers quit. When you become level 70, you usually have done all the quests in the game, making the game really boring for you, because now you have to go back to that boring repeated pattern of clicking on things and watching your character do them again and again. Now lucky for you if you got a membership, but if you don't, then you will no longer have the quests to do. But, there's more than just that. Members get minigames, Castle Wars, all the other skills to train on, keeping them entertained for almost, forever! Yeah, that's right =) Jagex udpates RuneScape about every week to keep all the members entertained. But sad for us nonmembers, we have to just click and watch. If the nonmembers don't get memberships, they will get bored quickly, and then they will quit RuneScape.
Sigh, if only Jagex wasn't so cruel to the nonmembers... That's the end of this guide, bye.
