This is a simple but detailed guide to what is quite possibly the most dangerous minigame in all of runescape, scaperune, or otherwise.
NOTE: this is NOT a safe minigame. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR ITEMS IF YOU DIE.
Items needed: teleport runes, food, prayer potions (recommended), spade
Step 1: getting there
There are 2 main ways to get to the barrows:
1: go the long way through the swamps of Mort Myre, in danger of spoiled food from ghasts.

2: go through the shortcut from “In Search of Myreque” quest.
Once there, you should choose one of the brothers’ crypts and use your spade on the mound of earth.

Green: Verac the Defiled
Red: Dharok the Wretched
Yellow: Guthan the Infested
Purple: Torag the Corrupted
Orange; Karil the Tainted
Blue: Ahrim the Blighted
Step 2: the brothers
There are six powerful brothers in the Barrows. Inside the tombs your prayer will be drained at a constant rate, so if you use it keep an eye on it.
Melee: green, red, yellow, purple
Range: orange
Mage: Blue
1: Verac the Defiled
Verac has the ability to occasionally ignore prayer and armor.
The strategy I use to defeat Verac is fire blast mage attack with protect from melee, also bringing food for when he hits through. He can hit 12+ so bring lobsters at the least. Also, if you use prayer, keep an eye on it.
2: Dharock the Wretched
Dharok has the ability to hit higher the lower his health is.
I use the same strategy as I do with Verac, except I don’t need food unless my prayer runs out.
3: Guthan the Infested
Guthan has the ability to occasionally gain health from his opponent.
I use the same strategy.
4: Torag the Corrupted
Torag has a chance to drain his opponent’s energy by 20% each time, however not gaining it himself.
I use the same strategy.
5: Karil the Tainted
Karil has the ability to lower his opponent’s agility by 20%.
I use melee to defeat Karil, using protect from range and watching my prayer.
6: Ahrim the Blighted
Ahrim has the chance to, when he attacks with any spell, lower his opponent’s strength.
I use melee to defeat Ahrim, using protect from magic.
Step 3: the crypt
In one if the tombs there will be a tunnel instead of a brother. If you want to reap your reward, you must descend.
Once in the crypt, you will need to make it into the center room, however you will be faced with crypt monsters that appear each time you pass through a door. There is also a chance that the brother who should have been in his tomb will appear. But before you get into the center room, there is a puzzle door. Solve the puzzle quickly and enter. If the brother has not appeared, once you open the chest he will challenge you. Kill him and search the chest. After doing so, you can either teleport or run out of the crypt, taking damage from falling rocks on the way.
Step 4: the rewards
The Barrows is very dangerous, but the rewards can be very great. You can receive mind, chaos, death, and blood runes, coins, and the brothers’ equipment! There are four pieces to each set, and if you possess the entire set, you get the ability of the brother the set belonged to. You can also get bolt racks for Karil’s crossbow.
The requirements for each set are as follows:
Verac’s helm, brassard, and plateskirt: 70 defense
Verac’s flail: 70 attack
Set: 70 attack, 70 defense
Dharok’s helm, platebody, and platelegs: 70 defense
Dharok’s greataxe: 70 attack, 70 strength
Set: 70 attack, 70 defense, 70 strength
Guthan’s helm, platebody, and chainskirt: 70 defense
Guthan’s warspear: 70 attack
Set: 70 attack, 70 defense
Torag’s helm, platebody, and platelegs: 70 defense
Torag’s hammers: 70 attack, 70 strength
Set: 70 attack, 70 defense, 70 strength
Karil’s coif, leathertop, and leatherskirt: 70 defense, 70 range

Set: 70 defense, 70 range
Ahrim’s hood, robetop, and robeskirt: 70 defense, 70 magic
Ahrim’s staff: 70 attack, 70 magic
Set: 70 attack, 70 defense, 70 magic
Note: all weapons are two-handed, shields cannot be used
Also note: the weapons degrade from use, and will need to be repaired with a repair bench in your house or taking them to Bob in the Lumbridge axe shop, Nurmof the pickaxe salesman in the dwarven mines, Tindel Merchant in Port Khazard, and the smith on the Void Knight Island. Repairing the equipment is quite expensive, however.
